COMMUNICATION & LEADERSHIP

PPT #4
LAST WEEK: LEVEL 3

People follow you because of what you have

done for the organization.
JOHN C. MAXWELL EXCERPTS

• Production qualifies and separates true leaders from people who merely occupy
leadership positions.
• No one can fake Level 3. Either you’re producing for the organization and
adding to its bottom line, or you’re not.
• Producers attract other producers. They respect one another. They enjoy
collaborating.
• The credibility of a Level 3 leader can be summed up in one word: Example.
• Good leaders constantly communicate the vision of the organization, clearly,
creatively, and continually.
JOHN C. MAXWELL EXCERPTS

• “Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidience like accomplishment.

“ – Thomas Carlyle
• Level 3 leaders are momentum makers; not takers or breakers.
• Leadership production is the foundation of team building. Who wants
to leave a championship team? Winners attract people – some good,
some bad, some average. The key is to recognize, select, and retain the
best people from the ones you attract.
• Never lose site of the fact that results are your goal.
JOHN C. MAXWELL EXCERPTS

• Relationships are not enough. You need to exercise that influence.

• Achieving a vision as a team is worth risking the relationships.
• Understand how your personal talents contributes to the vision.
• Level 3 leadership help people experience success.
• Team members should receive feedback about their performance.
• Be willing and ready to be a change agent.
• Communication must be open, honest, and ongoing.
• Don’t neglect level 2.
LEVEL 4 – PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

People follow you because of what you have done for them.

• Helping individual leaders grow extends your influence and

impact.
• Leaders must transition from producers to developers.
• Bringing out the best in a person is often a catalyst for
bringing out the best in a team.
