Pedophilia
Pedophilia
Pedophilia is characterized by persistent or recurrent
involvement of an adult in sexual activity or fantasy of such
activities with pre-pubertal children. 
 The age immediately before puberty; often marked by
accelerated growth is called pre-pubertal age.
Most pedophiles are men (exclusively).
The child is usually above the age of nine but prepubertal and
may be of same or opposite sex to pedophilic.
Prevalence
There is no reliable information about the prevalence of
pedophilia.
Form the existence of child prostitution in some countries and
ready sale of pornographic material depicting sex with children,
it appears that interest in sexual relationships with children is not
rare.
However, pedophilia as an exclusive form of sexual behaviour is
probably uncommon.
Description 
 Pedophiles usually choose child aged between 6 years to
puberty some may prefer very young child too.
 The child may be of opposite sex(heterosexual pedophilia) or 
same sex (homosexual pedophilia).
 There are also rare and tragic cases of pedophilia associated
with sexual sadism.
Sexual sadism involves acts in which a person experiences sexual
excitement from inflicting physical or psychologic suffering on
another person.
 Most of child molestation involve genital fondling or oral sex.
 Other may limit their activity to undressing the child and
looking exposing themselves.
 With children,  fondling and masturbation is more likely than
full coitus, but sometimes children are injured by forcible
attempts at penetrations. 
Etiology 
• Unknown
• People with marked inability to form relationships with adults
and fear of relationship with women
Treatment
• There is no evidence of effective treatment.
• Problems are generally solved by seeking counselling sessions.
