So always:
• Walk with your child to and from school

• Always hold your child's hand when walking

with them

• Children must walk on the inside of the

sidewalk or pathway away from the street/
road way

• Put a well fitted helmet on your child when
they are carried on a bicycle or motorcycle

• Small children must be put in a child restraint

or booster seat when travelling in a motorcar

• Walk in a single file/ straight line when
walking with more than one child.
Let the eldest child walk in front of the
group.

Everyone in the line must hold hands. The

adult must be the last in line holding the
hands of the youngest child.
PARENTS & GUARDIANS:
Children live what they LEARN! Always:
• Cross at a pedestrian crossing; stop light;
overhead bridge –safe places

• Look “Right” then “Left” and then “Right”

again before crossing

• At a stop light only cross when the light is “RED”

and all cars on both sides of the street have
stopped.
PARENTS & GUARDIANS:
Children live what they LEARN!
Always:
• Cross where school wardens and pedestrian
crossings are available

• Wear a seatbelt when travelling in a vehicle

Never :
• Allow children to walk to school by themselves
• Allow them to cross at corners and deep bends
• Allow them to cross behind large motor cars,
buses and trucks
• Allow them to hop on the back of buses, vans,
trucks and tractors
