Jesus Heals The

Paralytic and His

Authority to
Forgive Sin
MARK 2:1-12
Ano ang pinakanatatanging
pakinabang na ibinibigay ng
Cristianismo sa mundo?
 Sacrificial love
 Social responsibility
 Peaceful living
 Fulfilment in life
 Purpose
Ang pinakanatatanging
pakinabang na ibinibigay ng
Cristianismo sa mundo ay may
kinalaman sa pangunahing
pangangailangan ng tao o man’s
greatest need.
The greatest need of man is to
escape the wrath of God poured
out eternally on sinners in hell.

Only Christianity, only the

Christian gospel offers the benefit
that meets that need.
Only through the Christian gospel
can anyone escape the wrath of
God poured out on sinners
eternally in hell.
Unforgiven sin.
Hell is only occupied by people
whose sins have never been and
will never be forgiven.

Heaven is occupied by people

whose sins have all been forgiven.
That is man’s greatest need:

to move him from hell to

heaven.
Christianity alone offers that very
benefit, the forgiveness of sins.
The greatest need of every soul is
divine forgiveness of all sin, and
the greatest benefit of Christianity,
then, is the provision of that
complete forgiveness.
God uniquely presents Himself in Scripture
as a God who is willing to forgive, who is
eager to forgive, who is by nature
compassionate, kind, loving, merciful, and
seeks to save sinners from His own wrath.

This is the message of the Christian

gospel.
How can God forgive sin?

He can do that because His justice has

been satisfied in the death of Jesus Christ,
who is a substitute for the sinner, who dies
in the sinner’s place.
All the sins of all those who will ever
repent and believe were placed on
Christ, and He died in our place,
therefore satisfying the justice of God.
God’s justice being satisfied by a perfect
substitutionary sacrifice, God can forgive
sinners who repent and believe. And thus,
those sinners escape hell and are promised
eternal heaven.

This is the message of the Christian

gospel, that Jesus came to forgive
sinners.
The Curious Crowd (vs.1-2)
“Pagkalipas ng ilang araw, bumalik si Jesus
sa Capernaum”.
(1) Curiosity
(2) To be healed.
(3) For food (John 6:26).

The curious crowds are drawn by the

desire for more miracles.
The Curious Crowd (vs.1-2)
The Religious Leaders (v.6; Luke 5:17)
The Believing Sinner (v.3-5)
How did they have that faith? Was this
some supernatural kind of faith? No. They
believed Jesus could heal.

Why?
Because Jesus had been doing it.

Natural faith. Human faith.

Jesus saw a different kind of faith in the
paralytic. Faith that is not visible.

Spiritual faith.
This is not just healing, this is salvation.

This man’s faith was not limited to

believing in Jesus’ healing power. This man
believed that Jesus was the One who
offered salvation to those who repent.
“Hindi na kailangang may magsabi pa sa
kanya tungkol sa kaninuman, sapagkat
nalalaman niya ang nasa isip ng lahat ng
tao” (Juan 2:25).
Jesus saw the real kind of faith, the faith
that saves, the faith that doesn’t come from
experience but comes from conviction and
that comes from sovereign regeneration.

And so Jesus at this moment on the basis of

His own personal authority absolved the
man of all his sins.
The Curious Crowd (vs.1-2)
The Religious Leaders (v.6; Luke 5:17)
The Believing Sinner (v.3-5)
The Hostile Leaders (vs.6-7)
1. Sa isip nila, “Lapastangan sa Diyos ang
itong taong ito!”. Ang paglapastangan sa
Diyos ay may kaparusahang dapat mamatay
sa pamamagitan ng pagbato.

2. Sa isip nila, “Diyos lamang ang

makakapagpatawad ng kasalanan”.
Tama sila sa kanilang iniisip. Totoong
ang Diyos lamang ang makakapagpatawad
sa kasalanan. At ang sinumang tao ang
gumawa nito ay lumalapastangan sa Diyos.

At nililinaw sa atin ng verse 6 na ito ay nasa

isip lamang nila.
The Curious Crowd (vs.1-2)
The Religious Leaders (v.6; Luke 5:17)
The Believing Sinner (v.3-5)
The Hostile Leaders (vs.6-7)
The Authority of Jesus (vs.8-11)
“Alam ni Jesus ang kanilang iniisip kaya't
sinabi niya agad, ‘Bakit kayo nag-iisip nang
ganyan?’” (v.8)

What a shock that must have been.

Jesus read their minds. Jesus was aware of

their thoughts.
Ngayon, lapastangan ba

leaders na ito therefore Jesus is God!
Only God can read
minds.
Therefore, Jesus is
God!
The Curious Crowd (vs.1-2)
The Religious Leaders (v.6; Luke 5:17)
The Believing Sinner (v.3-5)
The Hostile Leaders (vs.6-7)
The Authority of Jesus (vs.8-11)
The Authority Commanded and
Applied (vs.11-12)
“Tumayo ka, buhatin mo ang iyong higaan,
at umuwi ka na!”

Tumayo nga ang paralitiko habang

nakatingin ang lahat. Kaagad niyang binuhat
ang kanyang higaan at umalis, kaya ang
lahat ng naroroon ay namangha. Sila ay
nagpuri sa Diyos at sinabi nila, “Kailanma'y
hindi pa kami nakakita ng ganito!”
The Command of Jesus:
“Get up, pick up, go home”

The action of paralytic:

“Got up, picked up, got home”
The reaction of the crowd:
“Amazed, astonished, awestruck”

They never have faith in Jesus. To them

Jesus is still a man.
Mga kapatid, hanggang ngayon ang
Panginoong Jesus ay patuloy na
nagpapagaling.

Nagpapagaling Siya ng mga pisikal na

karamdaman. At nagpapagaling din Siya ng
mga spiritual na karamdaman.
“Anak, pinatawad na ang mga kasalanan
mo.”

Come to Jesus just as you are: a sinner

needing a Healer and a Savior.
