Who Was General Aung San?
● The one who founded the Union of Burma and the
founder of the Myanmar Armed Forces.
● Was considered the Father of the Nation of modern-day
Myanmar.
● Was a Burmese politician, independence activist.
● Was honest, open - minded and stayed
silently.

How Did Myanmar Get Freedom?
● The Burma National Army and the Arakan National Army
fought with the Japanese from 1942-1944.
● But switched allegiance to the Allied side in 1945.
● Following World War II, Aung San negotiated the
Panglong Agreement with ethnic leaders that guaranteed
the independence of Burma as a unified state.
● And he signed it.
