Council?
What is the Student Council?

The student council is a group of students elected by their peers to address issues of
concern and organize student events and activities.

The responsibilities of all council members:


 Promoting citizenship

 Promoting leadership

 Promoting human relations

 Promoting cultural values

 Promoting scholarship

AIMS
 Improving Student activities.
 Satisfying student’s needs & wishes.
 Developing relations with other schools & having a twin school for
tournaments & exchange students.
 Raise money to improve facilities.
POWERS
o Request school trips.
o Promote & encourage the involvement of students in organizing school
activities.
o Communicate its opinion to the school admin regarding any subject.
ROLES IN
THE
STUDENT
COUNCIL
1. President:
• To act as official spokesperson for the council in its relations with the students and the school
administration.

 To call meetings of the council and to prepare the agendas.


 To supervise the tasks of the council members.
 To represent the students on official occasions.

2. Vice President:
 To advise and assist the President.
 To replace the president when she cannot be present.

3. General Secretary:
 To write up the minutes of every council meeting.
 To publish and distribute all the documents necessary for meetings.
 To write and classify the correspondence of the council.
4. Public Relations Officer:
● Coordinates and participates in the preparation of internal promotional publications to include planning articles, editing copy
to conform to proper grammatical style, and supervising the printing and distribution of publications;
● Answers requests for information and articles concerning activities within a specified unit/department.

We also included a new role last year “the associates” which were mainly in charge of helping the
council members, as well as media officers and conductor of research.
Removal of any Member in the Council
 The removal of any council member may be very necessary if the member is
not performing her required tasks and duties of her position, or if she has a
very bossy character with her peers or other party members, or if she is
misbehaving in any way in school.
The Election
Rules and
Process
1- Campaigning for each party should last at least for two weeks and it should include a clear and well-
designed program to be advertised throughout the campaigning period.
 
2- Each party or a representative of each party should prepare a speech to be voiced during students’
election assembly presentations.
**Candidates are also encouraged to produce their own 1-minute video telling voters, “Why you should
vote for me for Student Council.”

3- Candidates may NOT give any favours to their fellow students during the campaign. Absolutely no
favours are allowed (money, candy, gum, etc.). Campaign stickers, flyers, and brochures are allowed.
