 INTRO….
 Medical unit was established in MMC, Mardan in 1998.​

 Initially as a single medical ward. In 2010 it was split into 2 units, Med. A and Med. B​

 CPSP accreditation in 2011.

This Medical Unit is one of the leading tertiary care

referral centers of the territory , receiving a huge number
of patients from Mardan and surrounding districts like
Swabi, Buner, Malakand, Dir,
Swat, Nowshera, Charsadda and the newly merged
districts.​

Deficiencies

 Medical technician: For performing dressing of diabetic foot, bed sores , abscess drainage
etc.

 Portable ultrasound(FAST) for department of medicine, for ultrasound guided drainage of

body fluids and assessment of common medical conditions at bed side in the abdomen and
chest

 Portable X-ray Machine for imaging the seriously ill/ oxygen dependent patients

 Ward mini lab for quick assessment of common baseline investigations like Urine R/E,
Stool R/E, RBS, CBC, ABGs and Electrolytes
Our future goals/ Projects:

 In the future we are planning the following programs in keeping with standard requirements
for the medical professionals

 BLS and ACLS sessions arranged twice a year for trainees and House officers and to make a
team with blue code for early and effective management of critically ill patients requiring
resuscitation in A&E.

 Arrangement of academic symposia on regular basis for awareness of general public and
health workers regarding common communicable diseases

 Improving and initiating clinical audit for common medical illnesses like stroke, Diabetes,
CKD an PUO

 Improving and properly implementing infection control policies in ward with the help of
infection control team of the hospital
