Hadith related to ramadan
• Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings
be upon him, said:

ِ ‫بـ َـجـ َهـنـ َّ َمـ َوـ ُـسـلْـ ِسـلَـ‬

‫تـ اـلـ َّشـيَـاـ ـِطيـن‬ ‫غـلـِّ َقـ ْ َأ‬
ُ ‫بـ اـلـ َّسـ َمـاـ ِءـ َوـ‬ ‫حـ ْ َأ‬
•
ُ ‫تـ بْـ َوـاـ‬ ُ ‫تـ بْـ َوـاـ‬ ‫خـ َلـ َـشـ ْهـ ُرـ َرـ َمـ َـضـاـ َنـ ُفـتِّـ َـ‬
‫ِإ َذــا َدـ َـ‬

• When the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened,
the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained.

• Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings
be upon him, said when the month of Ramadan arrived:

‫خـيْـ َرـ َهــا َقـ ْدـ ُـ‬َ ‫جـ ـِحيـ ِمـ َوـتُـ َغـ ُّلـ ِفـيـ ِهـ اـلـ َّشـيَـاـ ـِطيـ ُنـ ِفـيـ ِهـ لَـيْـلَـ ٌةـ َخـيْـ ٌرـ ـِم ْنـ َألْـ ِفـ َـشـ ْهـ ٍرـ َمـ ْنـ ُـحـ ـِر َمـ‬ ‫اـلْـ َـ‬

• The month of Ramadan has come, a blessed month in which Allah Almighty
has obligated you to fast. In it the gates of the heavens are opened, and in it
the gates of Hellfire are closed, and in it the devils are chained, and in it is a
night that is better than a thousand months. Thus, whoever is deprived of
its good is truly deprived.

• Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings
be upon him, said:

• ‫جـنَّـ ِةـ‬ ِ ‫تـ ـِم ْنـ َأ ِ ّيـ َأبْـ َوـاـ‬

‫بـ اـلْـ َـ‬ ْ ‫خـلَـ‬
‫تـ بَـ ْعـلَـ َهــا َدـ َـ‬ َ ‫تـ َفـ ْرـ َـجـ َهــا َوـَأ َـطـاـ‬
ْ ‫عـ‬ ْ ‫تـ اـلْـ َمـ ْرـَأ ُةـ ُخـ ُمـ َـسـ َهــا َوـ َـصـاـ َمـ‬
ْ ‫تـ َـشـ ْهـ َرـ َهــا َوـ َـحـ َّـصـنَـ‬ ِ ‫ِإ َذــا َـصـلَّـ‬
‫تـ‬ ْ ‫َـشـاـ َءـ‬

• If a woman prays her five prayers, fasts her month of Ramadan, guards her
chastity, and obeys her husband, she will enter Paradise from any gate she
wishes.

• Abdur Rahman ibn Awf reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and
blessings be upon him, said:

• ُ ‫عـ ّ َزـ َوـ َـجـ ّ َلـ ِصـيَـاـ َمـ ُهـ َوـِإ نـِّي َـسـنَـنْـ‬
‫تـ لِـلْـ ُمـ ْـسـلِـ ـِميـ َنـ ِقـيَـاـ َمـ ُهـ َفـ َمـ ْنـ َـصـاـ َمـ ُهـ ِإ يـ َمـاـنـًـا‬ َ ‫ِإ ّ َنـ َرـ َمـ َـضـاـ َنـ َـشـ ْهـ ٌرـ اـ ْفـتَـ َرـ َضـ اـلـلَّـ ُهـ‬
‫بـ كَـيَـ ْوـ ِمـ َوـلَـ َدـتْـ ُهـ ُأ ُّمـ ُهـ‬ ِ ‫حـ ِتـ َـسـاـبـًـا َخـ َرـ َجـ ـِم ْن اـلـ ُّذـنُـوـ‬ ‫َوـاـ ْـ‬

• Verily, Ramadan is a month in which Allah Almighty has obligated its

fasting. I have instituted for Muslims the practice of prayer at night. Thus,
whoever fasts it with faith and expecting reward will be rid of sins like the
day he was born from his mother.

One day, Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was on the minbar (a raised pulpit in the mosque
where the Imam stands to deliver sermons). At some time, he said “Amin” (Amen) three times.
After he climbed down the minbar, the Companions asked:
“At that time, what were you engaged in, O Messenger of Allah?”
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explained:
“At that time, Gabriel came and said:
- If a servant (of Allah) reaches Ramadan and passes it without being forgiven, let his nose sweep the ground
(let him suffer for that).
I said “Amin.”
He then said:
- If your name is mentioned in the presence of a servant (of Allah), and s/he does not say salawat (saying 'peace
and blessings be upon him'), let his nose sweep the ground.
And I said 'Amin'.
He then said:
- If the parents or one of the parents of a servant stays with him/her and s/he does not earn their pleasure and
thus cannot enter Paradise, let his nose sweep the ground, too.
I said 'Amin'.” (Bayhaqi, 4:304; at-Targhib wa’t-Tarhib, 2:426.)
The obligation of fasting
• Time: rising of the second dawn until the setting of the sun
• Fasting is: abstention from eating, drinking and sexual intercourse by day
with the intention.
• If in Ramadan a child reached adulthood, or an unbeliever accepted Islam,
they abstain [from things which invalidate fasting] for the remainder of that
day, and fast that which comes thereafter. They do not make up what passed.
• If a traveller arrives [at his place of residence], or a [menstruating] woman
attains purity with part of the day [remaining], they abstain [from those
things which invalidate fasting] for the rest of that day.
