INTRODUCTION 2

As we all know being a seafarer many occupational stressors, including extended separation from
home, social isolation, work intensification, challenging living and working conditions, unstable
employment opportunities, pressure from frequent inspections, bullying and harassment, and a lack
of proper rest, are experienced by seafarers who work at sea. These stressors can cause mental
health issues. Several studies have focused on the mental health of Filipino seafarers already, but
few have addressed the outcome response once it has already happened. What can help those
workers efficiently decrease the number of these people who need solutions for their mental health
problems? Numerous Filipino seafarer doesn’t know who to seek when they’re experiencing multiple
mental health problems. Information and advice to avert mental health issues should be provided,
and mostly should give mental awareness to seafarers.

to address the various challenges in the maritime industry. Below are some recommendations

for the conduct of maritime security training in all maritime higher education and institutions:

 Develop comprehensive maritime security training programs: Maritime higher education and

institutions should develop comprehensive training programs that cover various aspects of

maritime security. The training programs should include modules on security threats, risk

 Incorporate practical exercises: Practical exercises should be incorporated into the training

programs to ensure that students can apply the knowledge and skills learned in real-world

scenarios. Exercises should simulate various security threats and challenges to provide

students with a practical understanding of the issues.

 Use modern training methods: Maritime higher education and institutions should use

modern training methods such as simulations, virtual reality, and interactive training to

enhance the learning experience. These methods can help to create a realistic training

environment and allow students to practice their skills in a safe and controlled environment.
