    What is Architecture?
    What is Architecture?
    A good definition was provided by the Roman architect VITRUVIUS in
    the 1st century AD in the first of his famous collection “Ten Books on
    Architecture”.
    What is Architecture?
    Vitruvius said that architecture was a building that incorporated:

    Firmitas … Utilitas … Venustas

    Firmness … Commodities ... Delight


    What is Architecture all about?
    “The art or science of building; esp. the art or practice of designing
    and building edifices for human use, taking both aesthetic and
    practical factors into account.”

    At a time when it is reasonable to say that architecture is everything-


    from philosophy to science to art to theory

    1. To understand human dimensions and their functions, space-

    sensitivity towards built environment and regional characteristics.
