Introduction

"District-based Support Teams (DBSTs) are trans-disciplinary

teams that have representation from several units in the district,
such as ECD, Curriculum, Institutional Development/Education
Management and Governance, ABET, Teacher Development and
Inclusive Education." (DOE, ND).
Role of the District-based Support System According to
SIAS Policy
• A vital component in the successful deployment of an
inclusive education support system is the district-based
support team.
• As a measure to develop such a support system, this policy
provides an outline of the role functions of district-based
support teams with reference to the administration of the
screening, identification, evaluation, and support process.
• The screening identification assessment policy was formed
to support all the staff members in the district-based support
group which includes the syllabus, school managers, the
social workers and also other members that are employed
inside the school organisation.
• This policy also outline the processes and protocols for
dealing with children in the school so that they can receive
the most effective support they need which is their
fundamental right.
• The policy is mandatory when it comes to making decisions
about providing assistance to learners, educators, and
schools. It assisted them by creating teacher and caregiver
training, counseling, and mentorship programmes
In conclusion
High quality teaching is generally accepted to be one of
the key factors in achieving succesful learning result, that
is done by developing the knowledge, skills and values
that the learners need to notice their full potential.. The
school based support team policy is meant to assist with
that for both teachers and Learners.
