Impairment: Knee extensor/Quad weakness (CKC PRE) Intervention: Sit to stand

Intensity/Progression: low

Mock client (age/gender): 64 year old male.

Brief Description: With patient standing about half a step away

from the table, have the patient lower themself to the table in a
seated position. The patient should the stand up to the starting
position. The table height may be adjusted to increase or
decrease the difficulty.

Dosage: 3 x 20, once a day.

Brief Rationale: A sit to stand is a functional way to engage the

patients weak knee extensors.

Impairment: Knee extensor/Quad weakness (CKC PRE) Intervention: Terminal knee
extension Intensity/Progression: moderate

Mock client (age/gender): 64 year old male.

Brief Description: Have the patient stand with a slight bend in

their knee. Wrap a resistance band around their knee and
secure the other end to an immovable object. Have the patient
contract their quad to straighten their knee against the
resistance band.

Dosage: 3 x 20, 4-5 times a week.

Brief Rationale: In order to push against the resistance band

and straighten their knee they will have to engage their knee
extensors.

Impairment: Knee extensor/Quad weakness (CKC PRE) Intervention: squat on Bosu Ball
Intensity/Progression: High

Mock client (age/gender): 64 year old male

Brief Description: pt balances on bosu ball and does a full

squat with knees reaching up to 90 degrees.

Dosage: 4x10 reps, 2-3 times a week

Brief Rationale: When your quads are weak, knee extension

becomes difficult and an increase risk for other injuries arise.
Quad strengthening is important to reduce that risk and help
with knee extension which you need for ambulation and many
ADLs.
