WHERE IS TEXAS?
• Texas is in the United States with 26 million people live
there..
• It is the second biggest state in the USA.
• It shares a border with Mexico.
• The capital city is Austin.
• Houston is the largest city in Texas. It has over 2 million
people.
• Austin is the capital of Texas, but it is only the 4th
largest city in the state. About 790,000 people live there.
TEXAS’ FLAG
• The flag has one star. Texas is sometimes called “the Lone Star
State.”
• In 1839, the Lone Star Flag became the state’s official flag.
SPORTS
• American football is the most popular sport in Texas.
• People watch football every Sunday with their friends.
• Baseball is also very popular. It’s considered the US’s
national sport.

• The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most famous football


teams in the world.
RODEO
• A sporting event where cowboys and
cowgirls show off their talents riding and
bulls and lassoing cows.
NASA
• NASA is an abbreviation for The National Aeronautics
and Space Administration.
• • It is the United State’s official organization responsible
for space travel and investigation.
• And one of their offices is in Houston, Texas!
FOOD & DRINK
• The most popular food is barbecue (BBQ).
People eat hamburgers, sausages, chicken,
steak, and ribs.
• The most popular drink is iced tea, which is
exactly how it sounds – cold tea with ice!
• Tex-Mex is a combination of American and
Mexican food. Fajitas Tacos Quesadillas

• The most popular music in Texas is

you may need: guitar, harmonica,
banjo, steel guitar.
• One of the most famous country
musicians in the world comes from
Texas. His name is George Strait and he
is called “The King of Country.”
TEXAS GEOGRAPHY
• Texas has a wide variety of landscapes,
including coastal, mountain, planes, and
desert.
• Guadalupe Peak is the highest point in
Texas. It is 2,667m high.
• The Rio Grande is the longest river in Texas.
It is 3,051km long, and about 1920km of
that is in Texas. It lies along the border with
Mexico.
ECONOMY
• Texas is a very important part of the
U.S. economy. It is the second
wealthiest state in the country.
• Important sectors of the Texas
economy include agriculture and
mining, energy, technology, and
commerce.
