Rationale
Culinary Tourism is important from the country and
culture’s perspective to develop their food culture in order to
support the growing trend of culinary tourism. As food is a
reflection of a culture’s eating habits, and in turn a
destination’s culture, history, and people. One of the eco-
tourism and livelihood projects of Dagupan City by the late
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim, the Dawel River Cruise starts from
the newly built wharf or quay at the foot of the Dawel bridge
in Catacdang, Bonuan Gueset. This project was launched Last
2012 as part of the city’s annual Bangus Festival, will feature
a floating restaurant with water-resistant audio-visual
facilities, day spa cruise and serenading local musicians.

Theoretical Framework
Our study entitled ``The Accessibility of
Culinary Tourism Plan of Dawel River Cruise in There are six stages of TALC namely:
Dagupan City, Pangasinan” is affixed to the
Tourism Area Life Cycle Theory conceived by
professor Richard W. Butler in the year 1980. The
model can be used to study tourist attractions to
see how they change over time.

The Dawel River Cruise is under the

Decline Stage. This stage is no longer able to
compete with newer attractions. The researchers
are motivated to propose a culinary tourism plan
and evaluate its acceptability in order to
resuscitate the said attraction since they may be
a good pre-requisite for a gloomy and
sustainable culinary tourism.

Statement of the Problem
The aim of this research study is to evaluate the acceptability of the
proposed culinary tourism plan of the Dawel River Cruise in Dagupan
City Pangasinan. Specifically it sought to answer the following
question: What is the acceptability of the proposed culinary tourism
plan of Dawel River Cruise in Dagupan City, Pangasinan in terms of:

• Ownership • Site protection

• Marketing and Promotion
• Licensing and Permits
• Cruise Activities
• Food and Beverage
• Facilities and Accessibility
• Waste management
• Crowd management
• Safety and security
• Traffic control

Result
This part presents the data gathered. The results of the statistical analysis
done and interpretation of findings. Based on the results presented on the
interpretation of the analyzed data gathered, Majority of the respondents on
the interpreted data “ACCEPTED” the proposed components of Culinary
Tourism in Dawel River Cruise in terms of ownership, marketing and
promotion, licensing and permits, cruise activities, food and beverage,
facilities and accessibilities, site protection, waste management, crowd
management, safety and security and traffic control.

Summary
The researchers conducted the study in the City of Dagupan. The respondents of
the study are 100 with a combination of local residents and Local Government
Employees of Dagupan City in order to assess their level of agreement with the
proposed study “Acceptability of Culinary Tourism in Dawel River Cruise in
Dagupan City.” Based on the results presented on the interpretation of the analyzed
data gathered, the researchers were able to identify the respondents who
contributed to this study. Majority of the respondents based on the interpreted data
accepted the proposed components of Culinary Tourism in Dawel River Cruise in
terms of ownership, marketing and promotion, licensing and permits, cruise
activities, food and beverage, facilities and accessibilities, site protection, waste
management, crowd management, safety and security and traffic control. By this
means, the researchers avoid being biased and the result of the study is assessed
fairly.
