CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY FUNCTION

When you hear the word cardiovascular what comes in to your mind?

Cardiovascular (Kar-dee-oh-Vas-Kyoo-ler)- relating to the heart and

blood vessels (tubes that carry blood around the body), examples are
heart disease and cardiovascular disease.

When you hear the word respiratory what comes in to your mind?
Respiratory(Res-pih-ruh-tor-ee)- organs that involved in breathing, this
includes nose, throat, larynx, tranchea, bronchi, and lungs.

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM AND ITS CONTROL

Do you have an idea about this?

Cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood

vessels, and blood. Its primary function is to
transport nutrients and oxygen-rich blood to all
parts of the body and to carry deoxygenated blood
back to the lungs.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM AND ITS REGULATION
Human have a significant ability to regulate their respiratory rhythm to
meet their body needs.
Types of respiratory regulations:
• Neural Regulation- respiratory rhythm that is controlled by respiratory centers, which are
made up of group neurons located at the back of the brain. The brains respiratory system is
primarily controlled by two regions:
-Medulla oblongata
-Pons Varolii
• Chemical Regulation- chemical regulation of respiration concerned with the hydrogen ion.
Breathing regulation complex of three respiratory system:
• Control centers
• Sensors
-Chemoreceptors
-Sensory receptors
• Effector Organs

SUMMARY

Cardiovascular (Kar-dee-oh-Vas-Kyoo-ler)- it delivers oxygen, nutrients,

hormones, and other substances to cells and organs in the body.
Respiratory(Res-pih-ruh-tor-ee)- organs that involved in breathing, this
includes nose, throat, larynx, tranchea, bronchi, and lungs.
Cardiovascular system consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. Its
primary function is to transport nutrients and oxygen-rich blood.
Breathing regulation is dependent on the complex of three respiratory
system:
• Control centers
• Sensors
-Chemoreceptors
-Sensory receptors
• Effector Organs

SUMMARY

Types of respiratory regulations:

• Neural Regulation- respiratory rhythm that is controlled by respiratory centres,
which are made up of group neurons located at the back of the brain.
The brains respiratory system is primarily controlled by two regions:
-Medulla oblongata- bottom-most part of the brain, helps control vital process
-Pons Varolii- lower-most structures in our brain, it forms a bridge between the
midbrain and medulla oblongata
• Chemical Regulation- chemical regulation of respiration concerned with the
hydrogen ion.
