• Background
• Announced on 6th February in 1966 in Lahore
• Charter for Emancipation
• Also called Magna Charta of the Bangalee’s
• To get ride of colonial rule & exploitation

• Popularity
The Six Point Program Included the Following.
1. Pakistan would have a federal structure of government based on the spirit of the
Lahore Resolution of 1940, with a parliament elected on the basis of universal adult
franchise.
2. The central government would have authority only in defense and foreign affairs and all
other subjects would be handled by the federating units of the state of Pakistan.
3. There would be two freely convertible currencies for the two wings of Pakistan or two
separate reserve banks for the two regions of the country.
4. The power of taxation and revenue collection would be vested in the federating units.
5. There would be two separate accounts for foreign exchange reserves for the two wings
of Pakistan.
6. East Pakistan would have a separate militia or paramilitary force as a measure towards
ensuring its security.

৪. দুই অঞ্চলের বৈদেশিক মুদ্রা আয়ের পৃথক হিসাব থাকবে এবং অর্জি ত বৈদেশিক মুদ্রা
রাজ্যের হাতে থাকবে। তবে ফেডারেল সরকারের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় বৈদেশিক মুদ্রা দুই
অঞ্চল থেকে সমানভাবে কিংবা উভয়ের স্বীকৃ ত অন্য কোনো হারে আদায় করা হবে;
৫. দুই অংশের মধ্যে দেশিয় পণ্য বিনিময়ে কোনো শুল্ক ধার্য করা হবে না এবং রাজ্যগুলো
যাতে যেকোন বিদেশি রাষ্ট্রের সঙ্গে বাণিজ্যিক সম্পর্ক স্থাপন করতে পারে সংবিধানে তার
বিধান রাখতে হবে।
৬. প্রতিরক্ষায় পূর্ব পাকিস্তানকে স্বাবলম্বী করার লক্ষ্যে আধা-সামরিক রক্ষীবাহিনী গঠন,
পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে অস্ত্র কারখানা স্থাপন এবং কেন্দ্রীয় নৌবাহিনীর সদর দফতর পূর্ব
পাকিস্তানে স্থাপন করতে হবে।
Some Important Issues
• The six points accepted in Working Committee meeting on 13 March
• Bangabandhu campainged for creating public awareness

• Ayub Khan called it as seditious and a threat to unity
• Bangabandhu was arrested on 9 May
• General strike was observed on 7 June
• Individuals were killed in police firing

Importance
• A bold protest against all discriminations & oppressions
• Latter it was defined as ‘Our demand for survival’
• Bangabandhu demanded our own economic system, revenue system
• We wanted to establish own defense system, different currency &
accounts,
• Bangabandhu became national leader
• Participation of all walks of people
• Democratic awareness
• Motivation for liberation & emancipation
• Inspirations for movement & struggle in future
