Malnutrition
Malnutrition refers to deficiencies or excesses in nutrient intake,
imbalance of essential nutrients or impaired nutrient utilization.
The double burden of malnutrition consists of both
undernutrition and overweight and obesity, as well as diet-
related noncommunicable diseases. Undernutrition manifests in
four broad forms: wasting, stunting, underweight, and
micronutrient deficiencies.

Preventing Malnutrition
The best way to prevent malnutrition is to eat a healthy, balanced diet. Try
not to miss or skip meals and aim to eat three small meals a day and two to
three snacks a day if your appetite is poor. Take drinks after your meal, not
before or during as that can fill you up.
