nurses as care professionals must have competencies

• Credentialing as a form of self-governance, as a method for


public protection, and as a foundational element in the
increasingly new forms of healthcare delivery is intensifying in
importance. Credentials provide an opportunity to evaluate
relationships between key elements such as nursing practice,
environments where nursing care is delivered, and nursing
programs with outcomes of interest for the profession such as
safety, quality of care, and patient outcomes (Chappell, Kathy
B., et al., 2021)

BACKROUND
• “Based on interviews with members of the
credentialing sub-committee at the government
hospital, it was found that nurses should carry out
recredentials every 3 years, but not many have
submitted them, because the head of nursing and the
nursing committee also received no punishments or
rewards”

BACKROUND • “In another interview, members of the Credentials


Subcommittee also said that increasing the career path
of nurses has not had a direct impact on the income of
nurses in this hospital”
• to respond to the regulation of the minister of health of
the republic of indonesia no 40 of 2017 concerning
career paths for nurses where the credentialing and
recredentialing processes must be carried out
periodically with the correct process.

The design in this research is a qualitative research design with a


phenomenological approach. The Analysis approach used thematic
analysis with which the Instrument used in this research
are observation, interview, and document analysis.

The phenomenological approach used in this study is to obtain in-depth


METHODS information about nurses' perceptions of credential implementation in
hospitals so far. The experience of nurses in several hospitals in Banjarmasin
will illustrate the phenomenon of how so far the nursing committees of
government hospitals and private hospitals have improved themselves to
meet the demands nurse competence improvement

POPULATION, SAMPLES AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

• Participants in this study is member of the nursing committee, credential subcommittee, and
nurses.
• Researchers used the Snowball Sampling technique in sample collection. The next potential
participant is selected based on information, appointed or proposed by the previous participant.
The number of samples taken follows data saturation (data saturation) and 10 participants.
