★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ Vega: Great mains, pity about the chips

Came for lunch with my sister. We loved our Thai-style mains which were amazing with
lots of flavour, very impressive for a vegetarian restaurant. But the service was below
average, and the chips were too terrible to finish.
When we arrived at 1.40, we had to wait 20 minutes while they got our table ready. So
we didn’t have a reservation, but the restaurant was only half full. There was no reason
to make us wait at all. We ordered the chips as a side dish and they looked delicious.
But, when we tasted them, they were overcooked and swimming in oil so we left most
of them. We expected a lot more for RM10!
When the waiter asked if everything was OK, we said we really didn’t like the chips and
he said ‘That’s funny, I love them’ and that was it. He didn’t offer us anything else or
take them off our bill. Also, when we didn’t leave a tip, he looked annoyed. I was really
excited about visiting Vega, and the mains were just fantastic, but the rest of the
experience was really disappointing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ Sandy’s café: a good option for a quick lunch

My colleague and I decided to try out this café near our office. The staff gave us a warm
welcome. We asked about the ingredients of the dishes because my colleague can’t
have anything with nuts in, and they were helpful.
He ordered a vegetable curry and I went for a toasted sandwich. Unfortunately, that was
off the menu so I had a four-cheese pizza instead. The food arrived fast! The pizza was
delicious and my mouth waters at the sight of it. My colleague liked his curry too but it
was quite spicy for him. The bill for both of us came to RM20 including the service
charge, which we thought was reasonable. I’ll be back to try that toasted sandwich
some time.
A Restaurant Review
(Name/location)

1. The ‘Open House’ is a restaurant situated in the heart of a small village between three national forests
and close to the horse´s capital city, Chantilly. It is the favourite hangout place for people from the polo,
horse races, and golf world.
2. ‘Kaidi Kitchen’ is a restaurant in the centre of Mylapore city. It is one of my favourite places to enjoy a
meal because of its original decoration, a prison cell, and the fact that it attracts a young, international,
artistry and interesting crowd as well.
3. I recently had the pleasure of dining at “Delicious Eats,” a small, family-owned restaurant located in the
heart of Kuala Lumpur. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with warm lighting and
wooden decor. Upon being seated, we were greeted by our friendly server, who promptly brought out a
basket of fresh, warm bread.
4. I recently discovered a very unique restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. I first went there with my family members
and since then I have been going back regularly. The Ship Seafood Restaurant is indeed a well-known place
for local foodies. This restaurant was established back in 1999 by two brothers who love to eat seafood
and can cook seafood marvellously.
(Atmosphere/decor)

5. As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of antique cut
stones and the luxuries of modernity. Sitting in any table you have a wonderful view of the workshop-like
kitchen where you can see the chefs working. For those who do not book a table and are waiting, there is
a cosy lounge with aged leather armchairs and pictures of polo players displayed on the walls.
6. As you enter the venue you are welcomed by a very attentive staff of waiters, who are dressed up as
jailors. They will take you to the table you are assigned to and tell you all about the prison´s menu. But if
you are fearing you will get mouldy bread and a piece of old chewy cheese to eat, you are totally wrong.
This has to be the first jail where prisoners eat like kings.
7. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly service. The decor is quirky
and inviting and we immediately felt comfortable.
8. The restaurant is situated by a lake which is used as fish farm. The fish grown by the owners are organic,
so they taste fresher and sweeter than those served in other restaurants. The indoor dining section, is
decorated with pirate ship replicas and fishermen lanterns from the ceiling, while the sea deck outside is
an open-air dining space with a stunning view of the lake.

(The menu/dishes)
9. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. I had the white asparagus accompanied by a
mousseline sauce and poached eggs, while my friend tried the zucchini carpaccio served with sundries
tomatoes and a mozzarella strudel. They were exquisite. The main course consisted in a risotto with
scallop cooked in cream and a cassolette of coley with mussels, which really thrilled us. It all was
followed by a delicious apple pie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

10. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. I had the cheese fondue accompanied by
nachos, while my parents had Greek cottage cheese accompanied by crispy chilli baby corn. They were
literally to die for. The main course was India inspired and consisted of Schezwan noodles and vegetable
Manchurian, which was also delicious. It all was followed by baked Rasgulla for dessert.
11. I decided to try the “Signature Steak,” which was a succulent, medium-rare ribeye served with a side of
garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. The flavors were well-balanced and the portion size was generous.
My dining companion ordered the “Seafood Pasta,” which was a medley of shrimp, scallops, and lobster in
a creamy tomato sauce. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the pasta was al dente.
12. The menu at the seafood restaurant was impressive, with a wide variety of seafood dishes to choose from.
There are more than 100 types of seafood and non-seafood dishes. Patrons can choose to cook their
favourite seafood in Malay, Thai or Western styles. I strongly recommend their delicious mixed seafood
tom yum as you can taste all the seafood at one go.
A Restaurant Review
(The ingredients/the prices)

1. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of home-made food. The chefs takes great care
in selecting the best quality ingredients. The restaurant also caters for all tastes by providing a large
selection of the best ingredients of the region, which are pricy but worth sampling.
2. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the taste of home-made food. The chefs take great care in
selecting the best seasonal ingredients. The restaurant also provides a large selection of the best cocktails
in town, which I found pricy but worth paying for.

(The service/the waiters/the owner)

3. What a pity that the service does not accompany the high quality of the cooking. You can hardly get a
smile out of the waitresses. Thankfully the owner and hostess, a middle-aged charming woman, is always
around willing to exchange some kind words with all her clients.

4. In addition to the excellent food, the service at Delicious Eats was top-notch. Our server was
knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations, and he checked on us throughout the
meal to make sure we had everything we needed. He even offered to refill our drinks before we could ask.
5. The staff is also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you
can tell making the customers happy is their main priority.
6. Apart from that, their staff are very friendly and helpful. From the moment we walked in, they greeted us
with a smile and seated us at a cozy table by the window. The staff at this seafood restaurant were all
very knowledgeable and can easily recommend their signature or special dishes to you. They are trying
their best to make sure we were enjoying in the restaurant. Overall, their service was top-notch and
really made our dining experience enjoyable.

(Recommendation)
7. Despite the high price of the food and the not so attentive waiters´ service, I had a pleasant dining
experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason I highly recommend going to the Open
House restaurant.

8. Despite the high price of the food I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I found out that the
charming waiters are also trained actors, so that and the quality of the food, make the place doble
special. I no-doubt advise everyone to go to Kaidi kitchen.
9. Aside from the great food and service, Delicious Eats also has some unique features that set it apart from
other restaurants. For example, they have a daily happy hour with discounted drinks and appetizers, and
they occasionally host live music events. It was truly an amazing experience. I will surely spread good
words about this place to my circle of friends.
10. All-in-all, I would rate The Ship Seafood Restaurant 4.5 out of 5 stars. Its dining atmosphere, food and
service quality are excellent. The prices for live seafood are slightly above average but other than that, it
is quite reasonable. I would definitely recommend it to all seafood lovers!
