Lightning is a large spark that contains electricity. So, lightning is called a form
of electricity that can be seen by the eye.
Lightning is a phenomenon that is not only spectacular but also dangerous.
National Geographic records that around 2,000 people in the world are killed by
lightning every year.
People who survive lightning strikes are more likely to experience memory loss,
numbness, and other life-altering illnesses.
Lightning strikes can also cause heart attacks, and severe burns.
Like the sad fate of a mother earning a living, the Empal Gentong trader was
killed by lightning.
Kholifah, a 45-year-old mother, ended heartbreakingly when she was selling her
Empal Gentong wares.
Residents recorded this tragic event and went viral on social media around
Cirebon.
Passing motorists, clearly recorded the messy conditions of the location with the
positions of the victims lying on the ground.
Generally, lightning occurs due to a potential difference between the cloud and the earth or with other
clouds.
When a cloud is filled with electric charges, a positive charge will form at the top of the cloud and a
negative charge will be at the bottom of the cloud.
Furthermore, the positive charge and negative charge are getting bigger, then there will be a big spark
between the clouds.
In general, lightning occurs between clouds, but sometimes it also occurs between clouds and the
earth's surface.
The positive charge that appears on the surface of the earth is what then attracts the negative charge at
the bottom of the cloud.
Basically, positive charges on the surface of the earth will gather on something that sticks out, such as
buildings, trees, lightning rods, or humans.
When the positive charge on the surface connects with the negative charge on the cloud, a large splash
occurs.
This spark is then referred to as lightning.
