Indian Online Journalism started as a newsgroup in 1999. It was meant to catch the first dot-com wave and have journalists discuss
the emerging form of digital journalism. It stayed the course for many years, till it was turned into a website and articles were written
on the ever-changing new media.

EXAMPLES OF THIS

Digital journalism can come from recognized and authoritative news sources, but individuals or small groups that may have a
defined slant also produce it. Examples of the latter include sites like The Huffington Post and Politico, and the gloves are off on
many web sites in terms of what can or will be printed.

DIsadvantages
Online editions appear to be edited less
strictly, notably in terms of story length
and content, and this appears to be a
drawback for online journalism. Online
newspapers are a little less serious than
their print counterparts due to the
infinite news space.
Maintain Integrity as a Journalist
One major challenge that faces online journalism today is that there
are some who don't maintain their integrity as writers. This leads to
lazy, ineffective content, little research, and even straight up
plagiarism. These people don't take pride in their words.

ABTRACTS
The Digital Journalism editorial team is thrilled to introduce this 10th anniversary special issue.
At the beginning of 2022, we invited our international editorial board to contribute to this
important collection, which aims to explore the diverse and multi-disciplinary nature of digital
journalism studies. We called for contributions that consider the “big picture” of the field and
look at the past and the present of digital journalism studies. We also invited articles focusing
on digital journalism studies for the future, considering trends, concepts, theories,
methodologies, and key issues that will shape research in the decades ahead. This special issue
features six articles, advancing systematic empirical assessments of developments in the field,
as well as critical discussions around the developments and politics of digital journalism
studies.
