Collapse options are specified on the CLPOPT line as
follows:

A maximum of 75 iterations is allowed per increment, the


deflection tolerance is 0.1 cm and the rotation tolerance is 0.01
radians.

LDSEQ line.

The operational load conditions and the self-weight load condition


are applied prior to the ship impact load condition ‘SHIM’.

Impact is define as follow:

It is necessary to define:
1. An impact joint.
2. An impact load condition. It should be noted that only the applied forces
in any impact load condition are monitored for the work done on the
structure.
3. A kinetic energy at impact.
4. (optionally) a ship/indentation curve.

The impact kinetic energy of the ship can be calculated from the well-known
expression,

where ‘ v’ is the velocity of the ship and ‘m’ is the displacement of the ship.
This calculation can be performed automatically with the use of the ENERGY
line.

Collapse Analysis
The Collapse analysis is run, by specifying ‘Full Plastic Collapse
Analysis’ under the ‘Static Analysis Tab’.
When 100% of the impact energy has been absorbed. The analysis
terminates the loading of the structure.

Report on the energy absorption in the Collapse Listing File.
