Winter in Greece

of snow. Many of the peaks above are dressed in white from November
to April.

Traditional festivals in Greece

Customs and traditions in Greece are an important aspect of the Greek culture. Greeks
celebrate special events every year and they called them “Panigyria”. Lots of people
come together to eat traditional dishes, drink wine, dance traditional dances (like
kalamatianos or sirtos) and listen to traditional Greek music. Greek costumes it is an
important part of this culture.

most famous greek dishes are "pastitsio", "stuffed", "souvlaki", "moussaka“, “greek salad”,
“feta cheese” , “fish”, “seafood like kalamarakia” and many different types of pie.

Wine
Greece is famous for its wine. In every season,
you can taste incredible wines in every place you
visit. September and October are the harvest
season. Visiting a winery at that time of the year,
is a well worth experience. Wander around the
vineyard, lose track of time and learn something
new about wine production. After that, treat
yourself with a wine-tasting!
Olives and oil

• Greece has many natural products, like


olives and olive oil, which are one of
the best in the world. October in Greece
is the month who takes place an annual
ritual: hand-picking olives.
• Other famous traditional products are
honey, ouzo, herbs, such as mountain
tea, oregano, chamomile, and spices,
like red saffron.

The Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological


museum focused on the findings of the
archaeological site of the Acropolis of
Athens. The museum was built to house
every artifact found on the rock and on the
surrounding slopes, from the Greek Bronze
Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It
also lies over the ruins of a part of Roman
and early Byzantine Athens. More than
4,250 objects are exhibited over an area of
14,000 square metres.
Parthenon

 Parthenon is an ancient temple dedicated


to goddess Athena. It was built in the fifth
century B.C., by the architects Iktinos and
Callicrates, but the decoration of the
sculptures were assigned to Phidias.
 Parthenon located in the centre of Athens,
on the rock of the Acropolis. It’s most
visited monument in Greece.
Epidaurus
Epidaurus consists of the temple of
Asclepius and the great ancient
theater. Of all the ancient theaters,
the theater of Epidaurus is the
most beautiful and the best
preserved. It has a capacity of
13,000 spectators and wonderful
acoustics, as a result of which it
still operates today.
Delphi

Delphi is one of the most important


archaeological sites in Greece.
Delphi was for centuries the
religious and spiritual center of the
ancient Greeks as there was the
pan-Hellenic sanctuary and the
most important oracle of Ancient
Greece.
Ancient Olympia
Olympia is a small town in the
Peloponnese peninsula, famous for the
nearby archaeological site of the same
name, which was a major Panhellenic
religious sanctuary of ancient Greece,
where the ancient Olympic Games were
held. The Olympic Games were held every
four years throughout Classical antiquity,
from the 8th century BC to the 4th century
AD.
