 is a city on the Smotrych River

in western Ukraine, to the
north-east of Chernivtsi. The
city is now the administrative
center of the Kamianets-
Podilskyi district, within the
Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
 Kamianets-Podilskyi covers
27,871 square kilometers of
land.

Kamianets-Podilskyi is a city that has

preserved the spirit of the Middle Ages.
Its originality and uniqueness lie in the
harmonious combination of the
landscape with the urban structure of the
medieval city, in which military
engineers, using excellent natural
properties, created a fortification system
that has no analogues in Europe.

Ballooning activities in the canyon of the Smotrych River have

also brought tourists.

Famous tourist attractions include the ancient castle, and the numerous architectural
attractions in the city's center, including the cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Holy Trinity
Church, the city hall building, and the numerous fortifications.
Although Kamyanets-Podilsky is not a regional center, it ranks third after Kyiv and Lviv in
the number of ancient and cultural monuments.

 Today, many tourists admire the successful combination of powerful
defensive city walls, the Old Castle (XII-XVIII centuries) and the high steep
cliffs of the river Smotrych canyon.
 No less attractive for lovers of fortifications is the Вставка рисунка
complex of the New Castle fortifications, built in the
XVII century, which is the only surviving example
of Dutch school buildings type.

The unique Castle Bridge, which connects

the Old Town with the Castle Complex, is
also of great interest. The Stephen Báthory
Gate is part of the city's
old fortification
complex.
