Motivation Strategies

Equity Theory:
Due to it being a government job, there is no incentive system, for legal
reasons. An incentive system would be seen as bribery, biased and unfair
by other employees in other departments.

Goal setting theory:

Goal is not necessarily to prevent emergency
Organizational goal is to follow procedures correctly, efficiently with no
misconduct. The reward is a staff rewarded self funded “party”/ social.
Recommendations

Appraisal System:
1. Objective Measures
2. Administer 360 feedback

Training:
1. Implement retraining annually
2. Pretest-posttest design on training modules

Motivation:
1. Control Theory

“360-degree feedback is a full circle

system of obtaining information from peers,
subordinates, and internal and external
Dr.Manish, Performance Appraisal
customers, about the employee's performance.
360-degree assessment is based on the
assessment of an individual's management
styles, competencies and behaviour by
colleagues horizontally and vertically by
involving his boss, peers and direct reports in
the organization. “ (Manish, Performance
Appraisal)
Objective measures of job performance

Performance: Measure:
Incentive:
Absences Days absent per year
-Pay raise
-Promotion
-Funding/money/grant
Accidents Number of accidents per

Design: Pretest-Posttest
Design
1. Pretest trainees on the
Canvas modules and
lawroom.com knowledge 3. Post-test trainees after Collect Data:
and how it will be completing canvas pretest and posttest
implemented on job modules and scores from
lawroom.com trainees

2. Training Delivery: electronic

training on canvas modules
and lawroom.com
Analyze and Interpret Results:
Compare pretest and post-test
scores to analyze whether
pretesting trainees before
electronic training is an
effective method of training
Motivation Strategies: Research and Theory

Control Theory vs Action theory

Action theory-individualistic=defines tasks
from individuals (external tasks & Internal
tasks)

ex. fire drill evacuate under 3 min.
