CROP PRODUCTION
Seed can be sown manually or by using seed drills the process of sowing seed manually , that

is by hand is called broadcasting, involves the scattering of seed by hand on the field . The

major disadvantage of this process is that the seed are unevenly distributed on the land .this

may result in the wastage of seed and struggle among the plant for growth and development
•It is an easy, quick, and cheap
method of sowing seed.
Advantages of •More land can be covered within a
broadcasting short time.
•No need for sowing implementation.
•Cost of sowing becomes less.
•Broadcasting is the usual method of
sowing seed for mixed cropping
•It wastes seeds
Disadvantages •There is lack of uniformity in depth
of of planting and germination
broadcasting •Many seeds may be lost to birds
and surface runoff
•It is hard to establish the optimum
plant population
•Mechanical operations are not
possible since rows have not been
established
