• Predominance of periglacial climate.


• Sub-zero temperatures for longer durations.
• Moderate to heavy precipitation in higher reaches but
scanty precipitation in lower reaches.
• Avalanches, rockfalls, ice avalanches, GLOFs common.
• Occurrences of earthflows and mudflows are becoming
common in Upper Karakoram Himalayas due to
warming climate.
