    Canada made significant contributions to space exploration through the development of the Canadaarm for the Space Shuttle and International Space Station, allowing for the deployment and repair of satellites and spacecraft. Canada was also an early leader in launching communications satellites, with the first Canadian satellite Alouette 1 launched in 1962. More recently, Canada developed the next generation Canadaarm2 for the ISS, which has greater capabilities than the original including self-positioning and enhanced dexterity.
