Microsoft Office Word 2016

is one of the most powerful word processors


available today that allows you to create
letters, envelopes, memos, fax cover sheet,
reports, newsletter, mailing labels, brochures,
manuals, certificates, calendars, and many
other business and personal documents.
Documents often need to be modified and
checked for typographical errors, unnecessary
paragraphs, misspelled words, inconsistent
formatting, or even have its content
restructured.

MS Word offers the tools you need to create


professional-looking documents.
What is word processing?

Word processing is one of the most common applications


being used on the computer. You will need special
application software called a Word Processor. A Word
Processor enables you to:

• Create and store documents,


• Preview documents before printing,
• Modify or edit saved documents, and
• Print documents on paper
Advantages of Word Processing

• You can easily make modifications without re-creating the


whole document.
• Typing errors can be fixed quickly using the Backspace and
Delete command on your keyboard.
• Deleting paragraphs is easily done without distorting the
look of your document
• Inserting a word, sentence, or paragraph is simple even in
the middle of your document.
• It is easier to move document contents from one location to
another within the document or even to other documents.

Instead of those methods mentioned above,


another convenient way is by creating a
shortcut to MS Word on your computer
desktop. This provides you with easy access
to MS Word.
Steps to Create Shortcut

1. Click the Start Button/Windows Button.


2. Locate Microsoft Word
3. Right-click Microsoft Word (a pop up menu
will appear.
4. Point to Send to then click Desktop (Create
Shortcut). It will automatically create a
shortcut on your desktop.

Ribbon – Provides easy access to the most


commonly used commands.
Different tabs found in the Ribbon:

Microsoft Word 2016 Environment
Quick Access Toolbar
Gives you easy access to frequently used
commands such as Save, Undo, and
Redo. It can also be customized with
more commands depending on your
preference.
Title Bar
It displays the title of the document.
By default, the name is Document1.
Once you save the file, you will assign
the document with a new name.
Ribbon
It contains the tabs which displays
command groups depending on
the activity.
Ruler
Serves as paper guide. You can use
the ruler to easily format your
document.
Text Area
This is where you type the actual text for
your document. By default, when you
open Word, you will see a blinking
vertical line in the text area called the
insertion point or cursor
Vertical Scrollbar
This bar allows you to scroll up or
down within your document
window by simply clicking and
dragging the bar.
Horizontal Scrollbar
This bar allows you to move
across your document window by
simply clicking and dragging the
bar.
Status Bar
This bar is located at the bottom of the screen
which can display the current page number of the
document you are working on. It also display the
number of words and columns your document
contains. You can also customize this.
