industry.
• In countries like Germany, Switzerland and France there exists today a large group of
industrial workshops and units side by side with the large factories.
• Pakistan
SMEs are considered as engines of economic growth in both developed and
developing countries. They provide low cost employment since the unit cost of
persons employed is lower for SMEs than for large-size
units.
• A few commercial banks such as Allied Bank Limited and First Women
Bank Limited have also started schemes to provide loans to low-income
clients who are generally not able to access the formal source of
financing.
