School Name : SMK Methodist ACS Ipoh

Objective of the project

At the end of this activity, we will be able to :

• understand the procedures for herbarium

• identify the genus and species of some plants around us
What is Hebarium?

Hebarium is a specimen collection

from plants which are preserved
through a certain method
Procedures

On day 1, we collected a few small branches with leaves from a few plants such as the papaya tree,
rambutan tree and mango tree. We then pressed it using a newspaper and labeled the specimens by
their layman name, genus and species. After that, we left to dry for one week. At the end of the week,
we mounted the specimen and pasted their labels onto it.

Feelings when carrying out the project

We feel very happy that we were able to do this project because we learned a
lot about the species and genus names of the plants. We also feel very blessed
to experience these plants as it is a beautiful gift from God. We get to feel
closer to the plants because we usually ignore the plants and their roles in our
survival.

Credits

We would like to thank our teacher for letting us experience doing this
project. We would like to thank our parents for helping us out in the
project. Most of all, we would like to thank God for blessing us with all
these beautiful plants.
