Has it had any kind of finish applied? E.g. door handles

can sometimes be chrome plated to make them extra shiny. A
metal chair might be powder coated (an electrostatically charged
spray on paint). A pair of pliers may have been dip coated (to have
that rubbery feeling handle added).  A torch or i-phone might
be anodised to add colour (it’s not a paint, it will show  the
metal texture through it). Jewellery or expensive cutlery might be
plated in an expensive metal. Justify your thoughts.
