Humms
 HUMSS, which stands for Humanities and Social Sciences Strand,
is an academic track or program offered in the senior high school
system in the Philippines. It is one of the four main strands available
to students, along with STEM, ABM, and GAS. HUMSS is
designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that
focuses on various disciplines in the humanities, social sciences,
and arts. It aims to develop students' critical thinking, analytical
skills, creativity, and understanding of society and culture.
Here are some key aspects of the HUMSS
strand

 1. Subjects: HUMSS students study a range of subjects


covering various fields such as history, literature,
philosophy, social sciences, economics, politics,
anthropology, psychology, and the arts. Some common
subjects in the HUMSS strand includes English, Filipino,
Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Humanities,
Creative Writing, Psychology, Sociology, and World
Religions.
 2. College Readiness: HUMSS is designed to prepare
students for college education, particularly in liberal arts,
humanities, and social sciences-related courses. The strand
provides a strong foundation for students planning to
pursue degrees in fields such as literature, journalism, law,
psychology, education, social work, economics, and
political science.
 3. Research and Writing Skills: HUMSS places a strong
emphasis on developing research and writing skills.
Students are exposed to various research methods and are
required to complete research projects or theses as part of
their senior high school curriculum. These projects help
students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and the
ability to communicate their ideas effectively through
writing.
 4. Humanities and Arts Focus: HUMSS encourages
students to explore and appreciate the humanities and arts.
It provides opportunities for students to engage in
activities such as literature analysis, theatrical
performances, music, visual arts, and cultural studies. This
exposure helps students develop an understanding and
appreciation for various forms of artistic expression and
cultural diversity.
 5. Career Options: While HUMSS is focused on preparing
students for higher education, it also opens up career
opportunities directly after high school. Graduates of the
HUMSS strand can pursue careers in fields such as writing,
journalism, research, social work, teaching, counseling,
human resources, public administration, law, and politics.
Additionally, some students may choose to pursue
entrepreneurship or creative pursuits such as arts and media.
ABM
 ABM or accountancy, business and management seeks to
prepare the young business leaders of tomorrow. ABM
strands paves the way for business related college degrees.
 Why choose ABM? it teaches the basic concepts of how a
person should management the business. This is fun to
learn because it will gives new experience and learn about
how to handle the money and how your going to invest
this, if you choose this course, a person can be a CEO one
day or a boss of small/bigger business and a person can
handle it on his/her own.
 Alot of people want to choose this course because they
want to have a business of there own also they want to
know the knowledge of handling the money. That's why
people have a opportunity to take this course what jobs
abm can offer?
 In abm, shs graduates can take accountancy or ceo they
can have their own business or company if they became a
CEO and there's a lot of jobs that people can take not only
this two. how does abm strand help students? With the
ABM strand, you can gain practical and real-world
experience through work immersion programs. A number
of schools offer such programs in order for students to
apply their knowledge and skills in the business settings,
which are vital in preparing you for your future career.
STEM
 One of the high strands is Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics or also known as STEM. This strand is the
powerhouse of aspiring students who hope to become professionals
in the field of Medicine, Architecture, Engineering, and a lot more.
As hard as it sounds, many students identify the subjects under this
strand as one of the most challenging ones. Students that will take
this will be exposed to learning activities that will hone their
knowledge and skills in analyzing data, understanding real-world
impacts, and conducting research. Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics are also intertwining disciplines
when applied in the real world. The difference of the STEM
curriculum with the other strands and tracks is the focus on
advanced concepts and topics.

become a pilot, an architect, a biologist, a chemist, an engineer, a
dentist, a nutritionist, a nurse, a doctor, and a lot more. Those who
are also interested in Marine Engineering should also take this track.
GAS
 GAS or General Academic Strand is a Senior High School strand
that takes on a generalist approach in preparing students for college.
It covers various disciplines like Humanities, Social Science,
Organization, and Management. While other strands are career-
specific. GAS is great for students who are still undecided on which
track to take. You can choose eletives from the different stands.
GAS subjects are a mix of specialized subjects from the other three
strands, HUMMS, ABM, STEM. Of course GAS also has a
disadvantage. Some students don't like GAS strand because it
doesn't focus on one particular subject
Why Choose GAS?
 It compromises of cool subjects, you can choose not one but two
subjects from any either academic strand, Not specializing in a
strand would open doors to a world of amazing options. You could
even choose to specialize once you've got the hang of things. It's
also a directing point in students lives to help them make up their
mind with what they really want to be once they fully build up. The
students that wanted to pursue a major in college related to
education are to be place in this strand. Students who take the gas
will not be unprepared
What jobs GAS offers?
 Under GAS, SHS graduates can get jobs as teacher, doctors, lawters,
businessmen, accountants, engineers, social workers, designers,
phychologists, practically any job under the three others strands!
(TVL) Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Strand
 TVL Strand is designed to develop students' skills that is useful for
livelihood and technical projects. It provides a curriculum that is a
combination of Core Courses and specialized hands-on courses that
meets the competency-based assessment of TESDA. At the end of
the course, students will be able to take the TESDA National
Certification Assessments.
 The TVL-HE Strand offers three specializations namely,
Bread and Pastry, Food and Beverage, and Cookery. In the
TVL-ICT Strand, the students will be taking subjects that
will develop the ICT Skills which will be of great help for
technology-based jobs. After completing the course, the
students will be able to take Computer System Servicing
Assessment from TESDA and/or continue a higher degree
courses in ICT or Computer Science.
