KEDARNATH AGGRAWAL
Kedarnath Agarwal is a leading poet of progressive
poetry. His first poetry collection was published in
March 1947, before the independence of the era.
This collection is a valuable document to understand
the history of Hindi literature. Kedarnath Agarwal
has considered the Marxist philosophy as the basis of
life and has deepened and deeply conducive to the
lives of the people in his poets. The poet Kedar's
people's writings are full of sandy clay in India. That
is why, in their poems, India's tone of aroma and
faith is found.
Smita Agarwal.
Smita agarwal is the author of two collections of poems, wish-granting
words, poems (ravi dayal: new delhi,2002) and mofussil notebook.
Contemporary indian poetry in english (brown critique/sampark:
calcutta,2014) . her poems have been widely anthologized in
magazines and books such as nine indian women poets (OUP: 1997) ,
verse: indian poetry feature (UK/USA) , reasons for belonging,
(penguin: 2002) , quote poet unquote: (copper canyon press, USA:
2008) , indian english women poets (creative books: new delhi,2009) ,
we speak in changing languages (sahitya akademi: new delhi,2009)
and the harpercollins book of indian poetry,2012. She has won awards
sponsored by the british council for her poetry and has been writer in
residence at the universities of stirling, scotland and kent, U.K. Her
critical articles have appeared in poetry review (UK) and journal of
commonwealth literature (UK) . she is professor of english, university
of allahabad, india, and editor and translator for plath profile.
Arundhati Roy
• Arundhati Roy was born in Shillong, Meghalaya to a Keralite Syrian
Christian mother and a Bengali Hindu father. She spent her
childhood in Aymanam in Kerala. She left Kerala for Delhi at age 16,
and embarked on a bohemian lifestyle, staying in a small hut with a
tin roof and making a living selling empty beer bottles. She then
proceeded to study architecture at the Delhi School of
Architecture.Arundhati met her film-maker husband in 1984, under
whose influence she moved into films. She acted in the role of a village
girl in the award-winning movie Massey Sahib, and wrote the
screenplays for In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones and Electric
Moon.She began writing The God of Small Things in 1992 and
finished it in 1996. She received half-a-million pounds in advances,
and rights to the book were sold in 21 countries.
Inderjit Kaur Barthakur
• Inderjit Kaur Barthakur is an Indian civil servant, economist and
writer. She was born in Meghalaya, India. She is a member of the
North Eastern Council (NEC), which carries the rank of a Minister
of State of the Union government. She has published several books
of poetry, stories and cuisine and So Full So Alive and Stories to
Win the World[5] are some of her notable works. She served as a
secretary to the Government of India and was the president of the
Indian Economics Association in 1990. She is a recipient of awards
such as Mahila Shiromani Award (1989), International Women
Award (1992), Bharat Jyoti Award (2008) and Indira Priyadarshini
Award (2011). The Government of India awarded her the fourth
highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 1992 and followed it
up with the third highest honour of the Padma Bhushan in 2009.
Dr. Streamlet Dkhar
• Dr. Streamlet DkharPoet, dramatist, Playwright, critic and scholar.
M.A. (Khasi), M.Phil & Ph.D. Born 23.12.1960, Shillong, East Khasi
Hills Dist., Meghalaya. Career: Professor & former Head of Khasi
Department, NEHU. Former, State Representative to Sahitya Akademi
New Delhi, Former Regional Coordinator of NE Region on Capacity
Building of Women Managers in Higher Education. Former
Chairperson, Women’s Cell NEHU. At present is a Chairperson of All
India Poetess and Dean School of Humanities, NEHU.  Is a member of
various Committees at NEHU, Dibrugarh University, Mizoram
University and in a number of social Organizations, Literary
Associations, and Poetry Societies.Publications: (Books Self Authored:
29,  Books Co-authored: 8, Book’s foreword: 38, Publications of
Research Articles: 86.
MAMANG DAI
• Mamang Dai is a poet and novelist. She lives in Itanagar in the
North-east Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. She has one
collection of poetry, River Poems, to her credit. Her next
collection, Midsummer-Survival Lyrics, is due for publication in
2011. She writes in English.A former member of the Indian
Administrative Service, Dai left the service to pursue a career in
journalism and writing. She has been correspondent for various
newspapers, including The Telegraph, Hindustan Times and The
Sentinel, and has also written for television and radio. In addition
to two novels, she has written prose and stories for young readers.
Her non-fiction work, Arunachal Pradesh: The Hidden Land,
received the State Verrier Elwin Award in 2003. She is currently
the General Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, a
member of the North East Writers’ Forum and a General Council
member of the Sahitya and Sangeet Natak Akademi.
