Was and were espress the past simple tense of a sentence, they mean “era o
estaba” and are used depending on the pronoun of the subject of the sentence.
I had a good weekend?

No. I just had the worst weekend of my life! I was very stressed and
loaded with work. I was organizing everything for the hookah
reception ceremony.
I was in pain and a little depressed. But I can always with everything.
