Introduction

• The major concern Toyota had in its production system are cost reduction through elimination of
waste
• Use of the manpower to maximum extent and also ensured that they give high degree of ability
and favoured labour environment.
• To get this done they mainly focused on Just-in-time production and Jidoka

Just-In-Time Production

• In Just-In-Time Production system we withdraw by subsequent process and enable all processes to quick
gain knowledge of timing and quantity required.

• One piece production and conveyance – approach the condition where ach process can produce only one
piece, can convey it one at a time and only one piece in stock between the equipment and process.

• Benefits of Just-In-Time Production system are reduces inventory waste, decreases warehouse holding
cost ,gives the manufacturer more control, local sourcing and smaller investments.

• Some of the requirements in Just in time production are Withdrawal by subsequent processes, One piece
production and conveyance, Leveling of production, Elimination of waste from over-producing.

Jikoda

• Jidoka refers to make the equipment or operation to stop whenever an abnormal or defective
condition arises.

• Jidoka is usually chosen because it prevent making too much and control of abnormality
becomes easy

Kanban System

• Kanban is a scheduling system that pulls production based on actual demand; Kanban controls
the timing and quantity, as well as the precise item to be produced.
• There are 3 reasons to have Kanban System
Reduction of cost processing information.
Rapid and precise acquisition of information.
Limiting surplus capacity of preceding shops.
• There are two types of order card in Kanban system
1. Conveyance Kanban
2. Conveyance Kanban

Conclusion

• From the study of scientfic paper we can conclude that labour productivity is the highest among
automotive industries of major countries and the turnover rate of working asset is also extremely
high. Number of proposals and rate of acceptance in a proposal system shows the condition that
workers positively participate in improvement.
