RESEARCH TITLE
BA CKGROUND
OF THE STUDY
• Mosquitoes (Culicidae) are one of the most pernicious bugs
that transmit dangerous human diseases like malaria, dengue
fever and yellow fever. It is considered one of the deadliest
creatures in the world and causes over 3 million deaths every
year (World Health Organization, 2020).

• Is there a significant difference between citronella and
oregano repellent and commercialized repellent
(mosquito coil) as a repelling agent against
mosquitoes?

AND DISCUSSION
CHAPTER 5: SUMMARY,
ProblemFINDING,
No.1 CONCLUSION
Findings: AND
RECOMMENDATION
In every concentration, the 50ml has 4.66, 75ml has 7.33, and 100ml has 9.66 average repelled mosquito. Among the three (3)
concentrations the highest average repelled mosquito is 100ml with 9.66 and the lowest is 50ml with 4.66.
Conclusion:
The results showed that the higher the concentration of citronella and oregano extract, the higher the number of repelled
mosquitoes. Therefore, all of the concentration had different repelling effects on mosquitoes.
Recommendation:
To further improve the study, the researchers recommend using a higher level of concentration to ensure the higher average
repelled mosquito. Additionally, the researchers recommend searching for ways on how to prolong the shelf life of the
concentration.
CHAPTER 5: SUMMARY,
FINDING,
Problem No.2 CONCLUSION
Findings: AND
RECOMMENDATION
The concentration in 50 ml has 46.66%, 75 ml has 73.33%, and in 100 ml has 96.66% of effectiveness of citronella and
oregano mosquito repellent. Therefore, the higher the concentration, the higher the percentage the effectiveness in repelling
mosquitoes.
Conclusion:
The researchers concluded that the higher the concentration, the longer the duration of observation increases the repellency
effects on mosquitoes.
Recommendation:
It is recommended to use a concentration of 100 ml of citronella and oregano extract for maximum effectiveness in repelling
mosquitoes. Further studies should be conducted to determine if this concentration is safe for prolonged use, as well as the
duration of its repellent effect. Further research can also focus on identifying the active ingredients responsible for the repellent
effect, to guide future studies in the development of more effective and eco-friendly mosquito repellent products.
CHAPTER 5: SUMMARY,
FINDING,
Problem No.3 CONCLUSION
Findings: AND
RECOMMENDATION
The experiment revealed that there is a significant difference between the experimental concentration and the mosquito coil in
concentration 50 ml, but no significant difference between the concentrations 75 ml and 100 ml.
Conclusion:
The researchers concluded that Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) and oregano (Oreganum vulgare) mosquito repellent differ from
commercialized mosquito coil (Lion Tiger) in concentration 1 because there are significant difference due to a total average of 4.66
mosquito repelled. While the two concentrations, 75 mL and 100 mL, do not differ significantly from the commercialized mosquito coil.
This means that the higher the concentration used, the more mosquitoes are repelled on average.
Recommendation:
The researchers advised to extend time of duration of the observation to Mosquitoes after applying the citronella and oregano mosquito
repellent to assess the significant difference in the different concentration of the treatment.
