WHAT IS TOUR
COMMENTARY?
Tour Commentary is a narrative used by a tour guide to describe a location and
offer tourists with knowledge about various features of a country while on a tour.
They are commonly referred to as "guides speak" and contain general information
as well as local stories about attractions or locations, events, and people in a
nation.
The Commentary is a discussion of information regarding a specific location,
item, attraction, incidents, associated stories, facts, and other information. The
commentary needs to flow. the audiences with information from the tour leader. A
positive tone is required when commenting.

WHY IS MAKING A
TOUR COMMENTARY
ESSENTIAL IN TOUR
GUIDING?
Making a tour guide commentary provides
visitors with an idea of what to expect from a
tour. Start by introducing yourself in this
situation. Verifying the type of tour and your
destination
PARTS OF COMMENTARY
INTRODUCTIO
NIntroduce yourself (and the driver) to the tour
participants and extend a friendly welcome.
Get to know the other tourists in the group.
Describe the tour's itinerary in general terms
and what to look forward to. Along with
specifics about the place or nation, include
general facts.
BODY
Once everybody has arrived at a specific tourist
attraction, provide a brief description of the
location, the significance of the attraction, what
to see or do there, how long the group will
spend there, and what time everyone is
expected to return to the meeting location.
Apply this to every other attraction.
REACTION
Allow your attendees to ask questions before
dismissing them. Allow time during the tour for
questions and answers. Encourage tour
participants to share their thoughts following
the excursion. Do not quarrel with the
participants, but instead attempt to answer their
problems.
BEAR IN MIND
If you receive a question or comment, paraphrase it before
you react, and then check to see if the issue has been
adequately addressed. Deliver the main portion of the
commentary, then invite responses. Then, conclude. A recap
is a condensed account of the conversation.
REMINDERS
Assure that tour participants take care of themselves
and their things, and that they respect one another's
time and space. Always remind them to be on time
and to protect themselves from environmental
hazards.
CLOSING
Finish the trip by thanking the tour participants for
participating in the tour and, if possible, inviting them
to join the tour again with their friends or other tours
that the company offers. Some businesses ask
customers to fill out a feedback form at this stage,
while others offer modest mementos of appreciation
such as local things or group photos.
TYPES OF
COMMENTARY
Sometimes referred to as interpretation, an
informative commentary highlights the guide's
role as an educator. When requested or asked,
tour guides shall provide commentary to address
particular needs and inquiries of the tourists.
Optional commentaries highlight the guide's
engaging and entertaining traits.
REQUIRED
A script that guides must learn is typically given to them by
the company. The corporation strongly discourages, if not
outright forbids, departing from the mandatory remark. The
spiel given by tour guides at a theme park attraction is an
illustration of the necessary commentary.
INFORMATIVE
Sometimes referred to as interpretation, an informative
commentary highlights the guide's role as an educator.
Though an informative commentary, the tour guides
explains to the visitors the meaning and relevance of the
things and symbols in the environment in a language that
the visitors could easily understand and relate to.
REQUESTED
When requested or asked, tour guides shall provide commentary to
address particular needs and inquiries of the tourists. Although this type
of commentary can be called for on and hoc basis, tour guides must still
come prepared. In this regard, it is important for tour guides to know
their assigned city or location very well.
OPTIONAL
Optional commentaries highlight the guide's engaging and
entertaining traits. Like a requested commentary, an optional
commentary allows for the tour guide's deeper involvement in a
conversation and analysis. In this way, the tourists can have a better
appreciation of the tour and the attraction.
TOUR
ITINERARY
WHAT IS TOUR ITINERARY?
A tour itinerary serves as a guide for your future
visitors. It describes what they will do and see if
they choose to book your tour. It also specifies
the arrival time(s), frequency, and duration of
each tour. Check out what some of your
competitors are offering before you start planning
your tour.

PURPOSE OF ITINERARY
By including all of the crucial data in the
itinerary, no time will be wasted traveling
between locations, activities, or hotels. With a
more realistic view of how much can fit into each
day, you can manage your clients' expectations.
Clients can better estimate the expense of their
trip.
IMPORTANCE
ITINERARY
1) Clients can maximise their quality time on holiday. By ensuring all the
important details are included in the itinerary, there’ll be no time wasted
travelling between places, activities, or accommodations. You can manage
clients’ expectations with a more realistic view of how much can fit into
each day.
2) Clients can better estimate the cost of their trip. This means they can be
better prepared and have saved enough to guarantee they can enjoy that
trip of a lifetime without stressing about finances.
3) Build excitement before the trip starts! Your itinerary is the main thing
clients have to get excited about before departing on their trip. A detailed
digital itinerary with beautiful images will help bring clients’ trip to life
before they’ve even boarded the plane.
4) Leave room for spontaneity. An up-to-date, detailed itinerary lets clients
make informed decisions about whether they have time to stop off at any
extra destinations. And the Vamoos Points of Interest feature lets you share
or notify to clients any places of interest they might like to visit, even if
they’re not included in your itinerary.
5) Itineraries leave room for crises. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t always
go to plan, for example, delayed flights. If these types of issues have a knock on
affect to the next item on the agenda, the itinerary is key to helping clients re-work
their day, by moving or cancelling any activities. Ultimately, itineraries allow for
contingency plans to be implemented quickly with minimal disruption.
6) Clients can pack more effectively. We’ve all been there – you get to the airport,
or even your final destination and there is something you have completely forgotten
to pack. When your clients pack with a detailed itinerary in mind, they’re more
likely to bring all the right gear or clothing, ultimately resulting in a better trip!
7) Create positive brand recall and win customers for life. With branded
itineraries, your clients will see your company logo every time they go to
look at their schedule. If they have an amazing experience and everything
goes to plan, then bingo – you will have created a positive view of your
brand and hopefully created a customer for life!
