 About Chhina Village
 Village Name:
Village Name is derived from the name of “Baba Bidhi Chand Chhina” a
brave Sikh of 6th Sikh Guru Shri Hargobind Sahib Ji.
 Freedom Fighter’s Land:

 Population:
Approximately population in my village is 1600.
 Geographical area:
My village situated on 31.898869 latitude & 75.27051 longitude.
Only a KM away from NH54
Only 60 KM away from world famous holy city Amritsar
 Highlights:

Railway Station built by Britishers and this is one of the cleanliest

railway station.
Historical place Kalanaur is just 15 KM away, which is coronation
place of Mughal Emperor Akbar and famous Shiv Mandir is also there.
Batala (In Laws family of First Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Ji) is just 10
km from Chhina Village.
Indo Pak Border is just 35 km.
Development of village on priority basis, so village on the way to
become a Model Village.
Education Insitute namely Sant Baba Hazara Singh College of
Education Chhina provides the facility to rural residents.

DRUGS :
Village was famous in drug world before 2013. To
remove this tag we did following steps:
Meetings with Gram Sabha Members.
Identify Culprits.
Awareness Camps/Plays organised.
Fix Posters on Walls.
Rehabilitation.
Prize Money.
Don’t use any drugs/alcohol
during elections.
 Health :
Health Is Wealth, So It Is Decided To
Maintain The Health Of Villagers In Good
Form. We Organised Several Medical Camps.
Eyes Are The Only Source To See This
Beautiful World, To Keep These Words In
Mind And To Provide People Vision, Eye
Camp Organised.
Gender Equality:
We Want Equal Ratio Of Male And Female
Population In The Village So We Are Trying To
Eradicate Female Foeticide.
Camps regarding Female Foeticide, Dowry,
Crime against women, Child Labour,
Protection of children from sexual offences are
being organized
We Provide More Facilities To Women, Which
Encourage Equal Gender Ratio.
All the Foundation Stones laid by Girl Child.
Education :
 Encourage Students.
 Help needy and poor students at
personal level.
 Panchayat make regular visits in
school (Check Attendance, Food
etc.)
 Free tuition.
 Spend more time with children.
 Honour brilliant students.

EMPOWERMENT :
Female are used to live in four walls
but in our village……..
Participation of Female is 80% in
Gram Sabha.
Elected women participation is
mandatory. Gram
Honoured to single girl child and Sabha
her parents with award money.
Five SHGs are running successfully.

To avoid the effect of global warming:

More than 1000 saplings are

planted.
Nourishment of plants.
Burning of agricultural
stubble is not allowed.
Best Avenue in locality.
During Summer people prefer
to walk under dark shadow of
trees.
 Sanitation :
To maintain hygiene:
Awareness Camps are organised on the
importance of Sanitation.
Most people are illiterate, so our
panchayat go door to door to explain the
importance of Sanitation,
Village declared ODF on December, 2017.
Unemployed women do the work of
cleanliness of streets.

To enrich the skills of farmers, we
organised various Farmer Awareness

Before 2013, Some people with Mgnrega scheme :
were living in Mud houses and
their source of livelihood was
only Labour work but now Employment.
Panchayat help them to take Work Equality.
Bank Loan to start Small Scale Social Services made a source
Business like, of earning.
Open shops
Boutique
Purchase animals for Diary
etc.
Beauty Parlours/Salon etc.
Distribution of Pension to
beneficiaries.
 SEWAGE / STREETS :

Before Our Tenure:

There were no sewage system.
Drain water was flowing in streets even
without rain. Before
Streets were showing that village was too
behind.
Streets were too narrow, because of illegal
constructions.
 SEWAGE / STREETS :
During Our Tenure:
Contractors were asked 32-35 lakhs to
cover 50% residential houses under
sewage system, but we used our own
technique and cost reduced 1/4th .
At present we covered almost 75-80%
residential houses under sewage

Streets are widen up to 3’5’’ to 7 feet.
Two rain water harvesting plants are
running on trial basis.

ENTRANCES

Village has five

entrances, all are
decorated with
Footpaths, Palms,
Cemented chairs,
Street lights,
Radium Paint,
Nests, etc. It gives
immense effect on
outsiders also.

To make last journey memorable, GP

To maintain hygiene in the

village and keep village
clean, GP installed dustbins
in every street of the village.

to not throw litter here and
there.

name to identify
each street.
Now, it is very easy
for outsiders to
locate someone.

 On the eve of National Panchayati Raj Day (April 24, 2018), National Award (DDUPSP) from
Prime Minister of India.
 ‘Inspirational Youth’ award from Prime Minister of India at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi
 On the eve of Republic Day, Award for Social awareness and Drug prevention from Cabinet
Minister of Punjab.
 Award for SDGs from District Administration, Gurdaspur on the inauguration ceremony of
‘Tandrust Punjab Campaign’.
 ‘Youth Icon of Punjab 2018’ award.
 Young Achiever award.
 Model Village Award to GP Chhina at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.
 Gram Panchayat Chhina got first position in Punjab State under DDUPSP.
 Under overall development and Swachh Bharat Mission, Our Gram Panchayat stood 2nd in Punjab
State.
 Honoured by several departments, societies, NGO’s, Youth Clubs, etc.
And the work is going on……….
 “Shah Panchayati Complex” is under
construction which covers Library, Reading
Room, Gymnasium, Yoga Room, Office, kitchen,
Public Washrooms, etc.

Our journey was not easy:

difficulties to disturb work.
