Recycling - is the process of
collecting and processing materials
that would otherwise be thrown away
as trash and turning them into new
useful products.

Importance of Recycling

Recycling reduces the amount


of waste thrown in the street
or garbage can.
-
Recycling conserves the use
of our natural resources,
preserving raw materials
such as trees, water and
minerals.
It prevents pollution by reducing
the need to collect and process
raw materials.

It saves energy.
It reduces water and air pollution
like greenhouse gas emissions
that contribute to global climate
change.
It helps sustain the environment
for future generations.
It helps create new well – paying
jobs in the recycling and
manufacturing industries.
The Principles of Five S (5s)
Five S is a system of organizing,
managing the workplace and
workflow with the aim to improve
efficiency and effectiveness,
eliminating waste, improving the
flow of work, and reducing the
process of delays and wastage.

Sorting (Seiri) in sorting you
should identify all unecessary
items from your workplace and
dispose them.
Systematize (Seiton) Always keep
needed items in the correct place so
that anyone can immediately find
them. You must arrange or put any
needed item in good and proper
order so you can easily pick it out
when you work.
To systematize means to choose
a place for everything that you
need to use, and to see to it that
everything is in order.
Sweep (Seiso) Keep the work
area clean. It refers to cleaning
your workplace thoroughly so
that there is no dust on the floor
or any equipment or machine in
your station.
Sanitize or Standardize ( Sekeitsu) –
This is the condition we support
when we maintain the first three S’s.
Sanitizing is a condition of keeping
high standard of cleanliness and
organization of your workplace
instruments or materials.
Discipline or Service (Shitsuke)
– Make a constant habit of
maintaining established
procedures. It is a condition of
training people so that they
become independent.

• If you are working on
any receptacle at your
home then always turn
off the main switch.
Treat all electrical
devices as if they
are live or
energized.
• Avoid contact with
energized electrical
circuits.
• Disconnect the power
source before servicing
or repairing electrical
equipment.
• Use only tools and
equipment with non-
conducting handles
when working on
electrical devices.
• Never use metallic
pencil or rulers, when
working with electrical
equipment.
• Never handle electrical
equipment when hands,
feet or body are wet or
perspiring or when
standing on a wet floor.
• Wear non-conductive
gloves, protective
clothes and shoes with
insulated soles.
• Do not store highly
flammable liquids near
electrical equipment.
• Never touch another
person’s equipment or
electrical control devices
unless instructed to do
so.
• When it is necessary to touch
electrical equipment ( for
example, when checking over
heated motors or heating flat
iron) use the back of the hand.
