Location
• It is a well-known and characteristic monument of
Barcelona. As the maximum exponent of the modernist
architecture created by Gaudí, thousands of tourists visit
every day to contemplate the curious temple.
History

• Construction began in 1882 in a Gothic

Revival style. A year later the project was
placed in the hands of Gaudí, who completely
rethought it.
• Gaudi died in 1926
• thanks to the plans that are preserved, his
dream comes true little by little thanks to the
work of other artists and the money obtained
from donations and visits.
When/how old is it
• The foundation stone was laid in 1882
• The first architect was Francisco de Paula del
Villar y Lozano, but he soon abandoned the
project due to disagreements.
• Gaudi was the one who continued with the
project... it is considered that by 2026 it will be
finished
• Gaudí wanted to establish a dialogue with the
divinity but never overcome his Creation.
