Primary winding and secondary winding can be connected as star or delta connections.
According to the application of a transformer, the primary winding and secondary
winding can be connected in four possible configurations.
• Delta-Delta (Δ-Δ)
• Star-Star (Y-Y)
• Delta-Star (Δ-Δ)
• Star-Delta (Y-Δ)
Vector Groups in Transformer
The transformer vector group shows the phase difference between the primary and
secondary sides of the transformer.
Dd0, Dyn5, Dyn11, Yyn0, Yd1, Yd11, Dz0, Yz1 and Yz11.
0 deg => 0 deg phase shift. Which means primary high voltage side and low voltage side
in the same phase
6 deg => 180 deg phase shift Which means Low voltage lags high voltage by 180 deg
1 deg => 30 deg. Low Voltage lags 30 deg with high voltage
11 deg => 330 deg. Low voltage lags 330 deg with high voltage.
The minute hand is used to represent the primary phase to neutral voltage and always
shown to occupy the position 12. The hour hand represents the secondary phase to neutral
voltage and may, depending upon phase shift, occupy position other than 12 as shown in the
figure below.
The angle between two consecutive numbers on the clock is 30°
