DECILE OF

UNGROUPED
DATA
The deciles are the nine score values that
divide a distribution into ten equal parts. It can
be observed that D5 or the fifth decile is also
the median of the set of data.
Steps in finding the decile of ungrouped data:
1. Arrange the data in ascending order.
2. 2. Use the formula Dk = position/score
The list below shows the test scores of grade 9
students:
18, 21, 20, 17, 15, 29, 27, 22, 28
a. Find the 3rd decile or D3
b. b. Find the 7th decile or D7
Find D2 and D6 of the given set of data:

45, 49, 46, 52, 59, 55, 46, 57, 63, 68, 73, 69
Interpolate the value to obtain Dk
1. Subtract the data between the two
positions.
2. Multiply the result by the decimal part
obtained in the position.
3. Add the result to smaller number.
Mr. Asaytuno wants to donate for Brigada Eskwela.
He sells facemask and saves the profit for donation.
The following data set is a list of his profit in peso
for one week:
130, 158, 180, 225, 195, 146, 250

Find the value of the 2nd decile, 4th decile, 5th


decile, 6th decile and the 8th decile
