La Sirenetta

La Sirenetta
SUMMARY
SUMMARY
Long ago, in the land named Vietri sul Mare, there lived different kinds of creatures: Centaurs, Goblins, Mermaids,
and Humans. Today is nothing but an ordinary day, as it begins with a brawl between the mermaid and human servants,
who, like the masters they serve, are sworn enemies. Poseidon, the God of the Sea, intervenes and declares that any
subsequent breach of the peace would result in death.

The mermen and mermaids reside at the bottom of the sea. Six princesses dwell there, the youngest of whom is calmer
and more contemplative than her elder siblings. Each of the mermaids has an underwater garden, but unlike the others,
who adorn theirs with various items rescued from shipwrecks that have drifted to the bottom of the sea, the tiny
mermaid named Ariella has just flowers and a statue of a handsome guy.

Their father, Signore Tritone, looks after them and informs them that when a mermaid reaches the age of fifteen, she
can climb to the surface of the sea and explore the world above the surface. When each of the sisters reaches that age,
they ascend to the surface and return beneath the water to inform their sisters what they have seen. When it is finally
Ariella’s time, the small mermaid observes a ship carrying the most handsome man she had ever seen.
SUMMARY
For weeks Ariella would sneak out every night just to look at the ship. She was mesmerized by the man she saw
onboard. Ariella was on her way back when she saw her fish friend, Halibut, who was looking for her and screaming in
panic when he saw her. As they were swimming back to the kingdom, Ariella couldn't help but daydream about the guy
on the ship. She was surprised they were already back at the kingdom.

Signore Tritone was worried and exclaimed loudly. Ariella was struck with fear, knowing she couldn't be caught
looking at a human guy. She thought of an excuse just to stop her father from growing curious. Her father went on
about how it's not safe to go out at night and how humans can catch her and sell her for those gold coins.

The ship sinks due to a storm. When she sees the prince sinking beneath the water, she is initially delighted because it
means he can join her, but then she remembers that humans cannot survive underwater, and she remembers that her
father would be greatly mad at her since the mermaids and humans are sworn enemies, so she secretly rescues him and
takes him to shore, where some humans servants appear, and one of them restores the prince to consciousness, asking
who she was, but only a sweet voice can be heard.
SUMMARY
After that encounter, the man fell madly in love with her. Days go by, and as soon as the man recovers, he comes back
to the shore, where Ariella awaits him every day with ecstatic emotions. They saw each other, had a conversation, and
exchanged names. Errico gave a diamond-lined dagger. Their conversation was cut short as the servants began calling
for Errico, and the mermaid quickly swam away as their interaction was forbidden.

One night, Errico woke up from a nightmare in which Ariella died without any proper reason at all. So he ran to the
shore where he first met Ariella, but instead, he met Friar Alessandro, who declares himself as a friend to all but hates
Errico for he is jealous of all the wealth and power he possesses. Errico tells the friar about his nightmare and declares
his love for Ariella.

Errico, in denial, exclaimed about his nightmare. Alessandro whispers and asks about the problem. Without knowing
that Friar Alessandro saw everything, the conversation between the mermaid and Errico wasn’t a secret to him.
Alessandro whispered and told him with evil intent that it was in the news that the girl died in the middle of the sea that
morning. Without hesitation, Errico rushed to go swim under the sea to confirm if it was true that Ariella had passed
away.
SUMMARY
Ariella was in her room when there was a knock. It was Halibut, and he told her that Errico drowned. She rushes to
where his body is, and her father sees the commotion and gets incredibly disappointed. He screams with all his fury at
his daughter and asks her to forget everything about this nobody. Ariella didn’t speak a word and swam to her room.
Midnight came, and she snuck out of the kingdom, swimming where Errico was found with something in her hand, and
she cried out. The water turned red, and in her hand was the dagger Errico had given her.

The End.
