The alert service bulletin warns pilots of EC 135 helicopters about potential vertical oscillations during heavy gusts or skidding landings. It recommends increasing the collective brake friction to prevent oscillations from occurring. If oscillations do start during landing, pilots should either lower or raise the collective lever swiftly until the oscillations fade out.

To all pilots, holders, and maintenance personnel of the EC 135. Vertical oscillations can be noticed on the helicopter under the following conditions: • A. In heavy Gusts • B. During a skidding landing on a hard landing surface. • To prevent oscillations or minimize the risk of occurrence, proceed as follows; • Increase collective frictional force setting of the collective brake, but only to a point where the collective lever can be operated. • If vertical oscillations occur on landing the following procedure is recommended. • In flight: release collective lever momentarily. Then retighten collective brake as necessary • During landing: Lower or raise collective lever swiftly until the oscillations fade out, while taking care not to exceed any limitations. Note : Do not trim the flight control system full travel or operate the flight controls without hydraulic pressure present. Damage to the non boosted part of the flight controls may occur.
