READER-RESPONSE
APPROACH
Reader response suggests that the role of
the reader is essential to the meaning of a
text, for only in the reading experience
does the literary work come alive. Its
purpose is to examine, explain, and defend
your personal reaction to a text.
READER-RESPONSE
APPROACH
There is no right or wrong answer
to a reading response. Nonetheless,
it is important that you demonstrate
an understanding of the reading
and clearly explain and support
your reaction.
READER-RESPONSE
APPROACH
The reader response approach is a
literary criticism approach that
emphasizes the reader's personal
interpretation and response to a text.
READER-RESPONSE
This approach views a literary work
APPROACH
as a transaction between the reader
and the text, where the reader brings
their own experiences, values, and
beliefs to the interpretation of the
work.
READER-RESPONSE
Reader response critics
APPROACH argue that there
is no one correct interpretation of a
text, and that meaning is not solely
determined by the author's intent or the
text's historical or cultural context.
READER-RESPONSE
Instead, meaning is
APPROACHcreated through the
interaction between the reader and the text.
This approach focuses on the reader's
emotional and intellectual response to the
work, including their feelings, attitudes,
and associations with the text.
READER-RESPONSE
The reader response approach can be used to
APPROACH
analyze any type of literature, including poetry,
prose, drama, and film. It allows for a more
subjective and personal interpretation of a text,
and it values the reader's perspective as an
important part of the literary experience.

the text to understand its underlying messages.

Feminist/Gender Criticism: This
