It is a trapezoid with congruent
legs.
 Properties of an
Isosceles Trapezoid
1. Each pair of base angles is congruent.

2. Diagonals are congruent.

Conditions for a Trapezoid to
be Isosceles
1. If a pair of base angles of a trapezoid is
congruent, then the trapezoid is isosceles..

2. If the diagonals of a trapezoid are congruent,

then the trapezoid is isosceles.
EXAMPLE
• Find the measures of the other
angles of an isosceles
trapezoid CARE if mE =75.
SOLUTION
• Find the measures of the other angles of an isosceles
trapezoid CARE if mE =75.
EXAMPLE
What are the measures of the angles of an isosceles
trapezoid if one of the base angles is (3x) and the
other base angle is (2x + 25).
 KITE
Another type of quadrilateral.
It has two distinct pairs of
adjacent congruent sides.
 Properties of a Kite:
1. Diagonals are perpendicular.
2. Exactly one pair of opposite
angles is congruent.
3. A diagonal bisect each of the
non-congruent angles and the
other diagonals.
Theorem on Diagonals of a Kite:

The diagonals of a kite are

perpendicular.
EXAMPLE
In a kite ABCD,
ADC = 50, =
20 cm and its
perimeter is 56
cm, find x, y, z
and w.
SOLUTION
In a kite ABCD, ADC = 50, = 20
cm and its perimeter is 56 cm, find

 Theorem on Area of a Kite:

The area of a kite is half the product

of the lengths of its diagonals.
EXAMPLE
Find the area of a kite with
diagonals 6.5 m and 4m.

diagonals 4.5 cm and 8.3 cm.
