7) Diagnosis function
CVT-ECU is equipped with the diagnostic function to monitor the input signals from each
sensor and output signals from the actuators. If abnormality occurs in the signal system, the
diagnostic function memorizes the abnormal symptoms and outputs a diagnosis code via
MUT-III.
8) Fail-safe function
If abnormality occurs in signals from various sensors, switches, or solenoids, this function
allows controlling them with the minimum adverse effect to the driving performance.

oil pump and oil parts.
●CVT fluid draining and refilling
●CVT fluid replacement
●CVT assembly replacement
●CVT-ECU replacement
CAUTION

Is stopped before starting this work.
Set condition of air bleeding
●Select lever position: P
●Battery voltage: 10.5V or more
●Engine: stopped
●Secondly pressure: 0.5MPa or less
●The electric oil pump system is not malfunction
STEP-1: On the MUT-III, select [CVT] → [Special function] → [Electric oil pump air bleeding]
●During air bleeding, the shift position display on the combination meter goes from
“P” to “A”.
●The air bleeding can take approx. 5 seconds to complete.
●When it is complete, the CVT-ECU air bleeding status is reset.
32
CVT (F1CJB) 23-32
STEP-2: after air bleeding, check that “Completed” is displayed for data list No. 77 “Electric oil
pump air bleeding status” .
If “Completed” is not displayed, turn off the engine switch to OFF status and repeat the
procedure from STEP-1.
●After air bleeding end, the shift position display on the combination meter goes from
“A” to “P”.
●If any of the above air bleeding conditions stops being met, the shift position
display on the combination meter alternates between “A” to “P”.

Name of part Number Function description
Sensor Wheel speed sensor 1 Outputs the frequency signal in proportion to the rotation speed
of each wheel to ASC-ECU.
Magnetic encoder for 2 The wheel speed sensor is a generator. When the magnetic
wheel speed encoder for wheel speed detection (a plate on which north and
detection south pole sides of the magnets are arranged alternately)
rotates, the wheel speed sensor outputs frequency pulse signal
in proportion to each wheel speed.
Stop lamp switch 3 Outputs the signal indicating whether the brake pedal is
depressed or not to ABS-ECU.
G & Yaw rate sensor 4 Is integrated in the ASC-ECU, detects the yaw rate and
longitudinal and lateral acceleration of a vehicle, and sends a
signal to the ASC-ECU.
Steering wheel 5 Detects the steering angle of the steering wheel, and outputs
sensor signal to ASC-ECU via the CAN bus line.
Brake fluid pressure 6 Integrated into the hydraulic unit, and outputs the signal for the
sensor brake fluid pressure in the master cylinder to ASC-ECU.

microprocessor, an output drive circuit, a power relay and a motor line relay. It also integrates a
self-diagnostic function, and illuminates the warning lamp on the combination meter when a trou
ble occurs. At the same time, it sends diagnosis code(s) to the diagnosis connector.
7) CAN communication
