Objectives
1. To identify the term infection control and reduction.

2. 2. To understand the importance of urine bag collection and disposal.

3. 3. To Minimizing common mistakes on urine bag collection.

4. 4. To identify the harmful results that occur as a result of not dealing

with the collection of urine bags.

5. 5. To Work on a radical and suitable solution to the problem of urine

bags.

Purpose
• The purpose of this standard procedure is to ensure safe
practice during the emptying of a urinary catheter bag.
• To protect the hospital from any violations by the
ministry of health or any official party responsible .
• Protect patients and medical staff from infection and
thus protect it from liability
• To maintain the reputation of the hospital in terms of
health services
• To be ideal in terms of action and application of
infection control standards
Introduction
• Patient safety is a fundamental principle of
health care. Every point in the process of care-
giving contains a certain degree of inherent
unsafely. A number of countries have published
studies showing that significant numbers of
patients are harmed during health care, either
resulting in permanent injury, increased length
of stay in health care facilities, or even death.
cont
• We are 3rd, 4th year nursing students at Al-Quds
University, doing our clinical course of
management and leadership in Al-Mezan
Hospital in Hebron, we trained in every ward in
different roles under the supervision of our
clinical instructor Rana Khaled, we acquired a
lot of information and experience from this
hospital and nurses with different titles.
WHY WE CHOICE THIS PROJECT ?
• we choice this project because we think the
ALMEZAN SPECILITS HOSPITALS are missing
it , the urine collection, available ,poor
awareness ,and poor little police and increase
quality care , we are used flow chart strategy in
this project .
Why Hospitals Need a Strategic Plan for urine
collection?

• Strategic health planning involves creating objectives

and setting goals for where a hospital would like to go
in the future, and then constructing a plan to achieve
these objectives.

• Strategic Planning helps an organization do a better job
of focusing its resources and energy. The Strategic
Planning process also helps you identify weaknesses
and obstacles that may be preventing
your organization from reaching its highest potential.

cont
• Safe urine collection use requires careful
planning and cannt be achieved if all of the
organization’s resources are spent meeting the
patient’s immediate needs.
• use time management , decrease worst time .
• Decrease stress in nurses during critical cases .
• decrease of risk harmful or death , and decrease
risk urine collection
Definition

Urine drainage bag collect urine, that bag

will attach to a catheter( tube) that is inside
to the bladder, may apply a catheter and
urine drainage bag because there is a
urinary incontinence, urinary retention
surgery that ,)not being able to urinate (
made a catheter necessary or another health
.problem effect on the urinate
Strategies to avoid errors involving
urine collection
Empirical – rational strategy.
• Based of knowledge (no authority).
• accept \ reject
• Often effective when little resistance to the
Proposed change is expected and the proposed
change is expected and the change is perceived as
reasonable.

Change Process
Lewin’s theory
• Lewin's Change Theory. The Change Theory has
three major concepts: driving forces, restraining
forces, and equilibrium. Driving forces are those
that push in a direction that causes change to
occur. They facilitate change because they push
the patient in a desired direction.
cont
• We Choose the lewin's theory for our Project , to
understand human behavior as it relates to
change and patterns of resistance to
change ,,the model encompasses three distinct
phases known as unfreezing, moving (change)
and freezing or refreezing , The intention of the
model is to identify factors that can impede
change from occurring .
Unfreeze
Unfreezing can be achieved by the use of three
methods:
1. First, increase the driving forces that direct
behavior away from the existing situation or status
quo.
2. Second, decrease the restraining forces that
negatively affect the movement from the existing
equilibrium
3. Third, find a combination of the two methods
listed above.
. “Moving to a new level or Changing” or
Movement
• In this phase ,we work together to apply plan to
achieve success change and clarify the
differences’ between old and new system, and
reduce the infection and keep the respect the
nurse in department .
cont
• Actually we worked on design form of new plan
, to be easier to use , to meet the need, and to use
Properly and we discussion to do a special new
medical waste , and remove urine collection in
bathroom and remove the urine bag by right
standard precautions in special new medical
waste and training for all health care
professionals in new policy .
Refreezing
• When the changes are taking shape (frames are
hung) and people have accept the new ways of
working.
• We go to making sure that the changes are used
all the time, and that they are inserted into work.
• After implantation the new system we make sure
to do evaluate our projects productivity.
Recommendations
• Educate the employee about the importance to
know about the ideal way of discarded urine.
• Teach the employees about infection control
precaution measurements.
• Encourage employees to use the ideal proper
way in discarded urine collection.
• Follow the protocol when dealing with urine
collection.
