PLATE
BOUNDARIES AND
EARTH’S
LITHOSPHERE 3D-
MODEL
A Project-Based method for
Grade 10 Students (First
Grading)
GOAL
3

 The goal of this project is to establish a global 3D

reference about plate boundaries includes;
Convergent plate boundary, Divergent plate
boundary, and Transform plate boundary. And
also, to structure the physical appearance of
Earth’s Lithosphere and the Subduction process.

 To put emphasis with radial layers and

identification of the composition of Earth’s layers.
4
 To Develop an ability to visualize and
understand geologic process in 3D model.

 To hone skills in rapport-building,

creativity and resourcefulness, and to
demonstrate a sense of cohesion as a
group.
WHAT IS 3D-MODEL
3D modelling is the process of creating
three-dimensional representations of an
object or a surface.
MECHANICS:
 Students are divided into five (5) groups at the beginning of the term. Leaders will
pick the topic and the group will be working and assign with each other over an
extended time period.
 To put action on cooperation and teamwork, the leader and members should have at
least 1 (or more) picture per session of working showing they are really working and
cooperating.
 The leader and one member should make 1 sentence narrative description per
picture including the date and time of working.
 Each group are responsible for bringing all the materials they need, such as, but
not limited to (ex. Glue, old magazines, paper, and etc.) and other resourceful
materials that can be found at home.
 The 3D-model shall be mounted on a ¼ illustration board (in any perspective).
Objects should be 2 inches minimum in height from the surface of the paper.
 Students can have a copy of their 3D-model in the internet as a reference.
 Students are prohibited to use dangerous chemicals and materials in the
preparation for their project.
 Students should pass their output prior at the time frame given. There would be a
point deduction for the late passers.
 As such document will be collected altogether with the submitted project. It’s to
give justice on COOPERATION and TEAMWORK.
 Students will present their work and explain it to the class.
